ok so we booked the samson suite, the staff at check in were lovely and very friendly. but when we asked for a table for dinner were told that there was nothing available until around!! 10.30pm, we had no other choice but to go to the bar to have a few drinks, we had to stand at the bar for sometime before we had to ask could we be severed (there was nobody else at the bar) our order was taken and we were told to take a sit and it would be brought over,( another long )wait the truth is the staff were to busy looking after a group of people whom had chosen this bar as their first stop on a long saturday night on the town and were not paying guests. i just feel that if im paying over £500 a night i expect a certain standard of service which this hotel greatly lacks, on the upside the restaurant staff at dinner were on the other hand amazing great food great service could not fault on any level.
so when went up to our suite yes it is a CLASS room and the pictures don,t do it justice but the 9ft bed was like sleeping on a brick and the bathrobes were like sandpaper a little bit of fabric softner wouldn,t go a miss here???? but all the little extras were great cooling eye gel,eye mask, bath oil, full size hand cream ect...
so the next morning we go down to have breakfast well that was the worst breakfast ever the food was just rottin and the size of the portions were tiny the food also had unpleasent taste so i asked for toast and guess what another long long wait when i got the toast it was cold and there was no butter the staff were very slow and service with a smile doesn,t happen at breakfast we got the impression that we were being hurried out of the place. the only time the food is of a high stantard in this place is when your paying over a £100 + when breakfast is incluced with your stay just dont bother its so crap. i know i,m coming of so overly fussy here but again when your paying £500 a night there is a certain standard you expect i have stayed in some beautiful hotels from dublin to new york and L.A no of which would have such poor service ive had better service at airport hotels,

I originally booked for 1 night at a very good price which provided excellent value for money. Room was spacious and everything looked very high quality. Fantastic selection of breakfast and very good service provided by the reception desk. I checked out but then due to the "Volcanic Ash" problem, I found out I would need 2 more nights until I could leave by ferry. I rang the hotel and asked for 2 more nights which they did with no problem at a very good rate. It would have been very easy for them to charge premium rates so compliments should be paid to them for this.
One thing I did find when I got home was an invoice from them claiming I had a bottle of wine\water from the minibar. The minibars actually have a paper seal on them which I didn't break so I don't know how they come to the conclusion that items from the bar had been taken. One call sorted it all but it was just a bit baffling how the charge could have been applied in the 1st place but don't let this spoil anything. It's a great hotel.

We stayed in the Park Inn on Friday and moved to MalMaison on the Saturday.
We both immediately felt that we had made a mistake.
The hotel must have been designed by the King of the Goths! Everything is black and very uninviting.
Breakfast was billed as "Grand Mal" but turned out to be a slight twitch, something best forgotton. eg. there were 6 of us on a table and we asked for more toast and got 2 slices.
Take a lesson from the Park Inn, which was much cheaper and spectacularly good.

Hotel had a great suite in a very functional location. Food in the restaurant was great - premium ingredients on the menu, many locally sources - if a little expensive. Nice ambience in the restaurant.

The bar is one of the best in Belfast - killer cocktails, great bar staff and a nice ambience.

Stayed in a nice, bright modern room so would recommend to anyone coming to Belfast.

Have stayed at this hotel a few times and have always found it to be of a great standard. Its in a good location near Victoria Square shopping centre and and a variety of restaurants in Belfast. The only downside is there is no parking but you can park in Victoria Square overnight for about £20, or if you live in NI just get a train.
