We stayed for our anniversary, it was amazing. Staff are fabulous, cannot do enough for you.
Room was small but big enough for two king size beds! Huge bathroom, amenities were second to none, sheer luxury. Amazing meal in the restaurant, cocktails were divine, breakfast delicious.
Cannot emphasise enough how great this home is, albeit not cheap, it's worth it :)

Stayed last night at the Merchant to celebrate my birthday.

On arrival the counter staff and concierge were all polite, warm, friendly and welcoming. Marc, the concierge was of great assistance in helping with our bags, and giving us directions to the spa and restaurants.

We stayed in room 101, the room itself is fantastic with a large spacious bathroom and a very, very comfortable bed. The sole let down of this room is its location, opposite The Spaniard Bar and with a serious lack of sound proofing. Well on into early morning we were kept awake with loud music, screams, traffic going past and car horns. There were ear plugs provided, but I believe this to be a feeble attempt to solve the issue, wearing them is uncomfortable and doesn't particularly solve the problem as you then become aware of the sound of your own breathing.

Given that the hotel is rated 5* and the considerable amount of money paid for the room for the night, I believe this to be unacceptable. We understand a certain degree of noise is to be expected whilst staying in a city centre hotel, but we believe a great deal more could be done to minimize it.

Room Tip: rooms 101 to 104 are to be avoided due to traffic

Stayed at merchant for 40 th wedding anniversary treat bought for us by our daughters, have stayed in many 5 star hotels in Ireland and beyond and I would say without doubt the Merchant would not even rate to us as a good 4 star, put on the fourth floor attic box room claustrophobic too warm no view for the price paid so disappointed ,staff very pleasant, the 6 th floor outdoor tub what an embarrassment sitting looking into an old empty building a few running machines, don't rush the spa I would not compare to the likes of the G in Galway or the Galgorm in Ballymena,
Had heard so much about this hotel very disappointed

Stayed here whilst on business. Fab Art Deco rooms, large bathroom with deep old fashioned bath, sumptuous! Walk in wardrobe with theatre style dressing table with bulbs surrounding the mirror.... Wasted on me but my wife would have loved it!
Staff around the hotel seamed scarce yet when in need of help someone just happened to be on hold, clever. Guinness in the bar was awesome and settled the tummy nice before hitting the bars around the hotel. For a Wednesday night the atmosphere in the bars were electric , live music and non threatening environment.
Breakfast choice was immense (egg Benedict highly recommended). I will return, this time for longer and with my wife, she will love it.
The Irish are such lovely, friendly and welcoming people which adds to the attraction of a buzzing, beautiful city (that I was exposed too anyway).

Stayed here for a birthday treat with my girlfriend, undeniably one of the best hotels I have had the pleasure of experiencing. Firstly, we called up at the side of the hotel looking for parking advice from the concierge service, who offered kindly to deal with this for us. Escorted to, and introduced to reception, who were nothing but friendly. Conceirge service (Dean) was amazing, with knowledgeable friendly staff taking us around the details in our room, address any queries we had. So, from the off, our arrival was nothing short of perfect. The rooms were sizable, with everything you could need. Sizable shower and bath, with attention to detail everywhere you turn.

Throughout our stay, the friendliness of staff was evident, from our daily good mornings from everyone we met, to the room service staff ensuring everything was perfect. Dinner and breakfast were great, and cocktails to die for - which were brought to our room without complaint.

Thanks to everyone at the merchant for making our experience nothing short of perfect. If you want to see what service looks like, book yourself in.

The check in was very smooth, taken to the room which was lovely. The staff could not have been more helpful.. We have cocktails and lunch in the bar. The breakfast in the great hall was an experience and for 1st not a buffet. A nice wee touch with some sweets in my jeep for the journey home Altogether a fantastic experience
