We stayed at the Merchant Hotel for two nights. The location was excellent. The room was really beautiful. Art Deco everywhere. The staff couldn't have been nicer.
We got to see one of the suites, it was so nice. Although, we did not have a suite our room was spacious and decorated so well. The hotel has different levels and is comprised of two or more buildings and that was a bit confusing. We actually were lost one night trying to find our room. Which was fun, because it was a little spooky in the hallways. This hotel has so much character.
I would recommend The Merchant highly.

My boyfriend at the time booked to stay in the Merchant for our 7 year anniversary. When he was booking it over the phone he was asked was it for a special occasion to which he replied it was for our anniversary.

We stayed in an Art Deco room which was very generous in size and had amazing facilities. The room was so luxurious, big comfy bed, two very comfy chairs, big flat screen tv, wardrobe, safe and vanity style mirror all hidden behind sliding doors! The bathroom was very spacious, stand alone bath (big enough for two ;) ) and a massive walk in marble shower!

We made use of the roof top hot tub and spa facilities which are definitely worth a visit when visiting this hotel. Lovely sitting in hot tub over looking Belfast and definitely the perfect location for a proposal :)

Referring back to when my boyfriend booked the hotel, when we returned back to the hotel room for the evening we were greeted with a single balloon, a celebratory card and chocolate truffles to celebrate our anniversary. I particularly enjoyed this little detail and it made you feel very important.

Breakfast was the absolute icing on the cake for this trip. I don't even know where to start with this but definitely recommend staying here just to sample the breakfast :)

I can't recommend this place enough. My fiancé and I intend to return on our anniversary this year and we cannot wait!

The Merchant delivers again to a top standard .... We had our last hurrah of the summer with a Friday night treat stay at the Merchant.

As always the staff were friendly, efficient and effective. Particularly of note was the highly effective young tall blond cocktail waitress Friday afternoon in the main bar. She was under much pressure given volume of cocktail orders ... She maintained cool, poise and cheeriness .... I did wonder if perhaps some of her male colleagues could be trained to help her but apparently that may not be a quick process!

The room, in the Art Deco end of the hotel was very comfortable and peaceful .... We were glad we had gone art deco than the original hotel rooms at the other end as they definitely seem to be at the noisier end of town! Just one small request .... It would be great if there was a wall mount for the hand held shower ... Us girls don't like to get our hair wet!

Breakfast was also very tasty and well served.

Another great stay .... Thanks to all at the Merchant .... Please don't stop what you're doing!

If you want to enjoy downtown Belfast, give the Merchant a try. Rooms are very modern and trendy but it has one of the most beautiful old style dining rooms I have ever seen as well as trendy pub with great food.

Stayed here with eleven other golfers and just loved the place. Service was top notch and the location was fantastic. Just one hour from both royal county down and royal portrush. Great food choices in and around the hotel and had a surprisingly great time in Bert's bar, the hotel jazz club. The bartenders in the main bar are magicians, I have never seen drinks that looked so good and that we're made with such care. Sounds strange but it was like artwork. Even a beer man like me appreciated their efforts, it was fun to sit back and watch. The rooms are spacious and beautiful. Good for business, a golf trip and for sure a couple getaway. Cannot recommend this place enough!

We stayed in the hotel for 2nights and had a wonderful time, from the moment we arrived until we left we could not fault anything. We had wonderful food, drinks and the service was exceptional... Our Art Deco style room was beautiful as is every part of the hotel. We would like to give a special Thanks to Michael the deputy GM who recommend we eat in Berts Jazz Bar, the food and cocktails were amazing as was the music and atmosphere, he even booked us a fantastic table. I'd like to say thank you to Rachel in the cloth ear and Brendan the concierge who also looked after us.The Merchant is truly a 5star experience and look forward to returning..

My 15 year old daughter and I stayed here for 4 nights recently, and we had a lovely relaxing time. Our room was large and the beds were super comfortable. All the staff we encountered were friendly, polite and unobtrusive, a perfect combination. We had afternoon tea one day. My daughter has a severe nut allergy, and they actually do a specific 'nut free afternoon tea', which is just the best thing ever. We hope to return sometime.
