Description: Nestled in Belfast's bustling Botanic Avenue, Sakura Sushi restaurant brings a taste of Tokyo to the city streets of Northern Ireland. Named after Japan's national flower – the cherry blossom – this sweet and shiny sushi restaurant is split over two floors and filled with glazed walnut furniture, a feature floral wall, bright and bubbly background music and cute Japanese lanterns. On the ground floor you can sit at the sushi train and choose from a superb selection of fresh sushi and sashimi or meals such as the salt and chilli sea bass or the roasted pork with curry udon noodles, while upstairs offers a variety of flexible spaces with plush carpets and sliding doors that are perfect for private parties.

“Chicken is not chicken”
Reviewed 6 August 2014 via mobile

Came here expecting a lovely sushi dishes, after I ordered 'chicken' I took my first bite, it tasted like jelly. I then had to run to the disabled toilet to spit it out as I thought I was going to puke. I would advise this for anyone and this restaurant has nothing on yo sushi!

“All aboard the sushi train!”
Reviewed 4 August 2014

I went to Sakura for the first time for lunch today. It is a lovely decorated place with relaxing atmosphere. The sushi is delicious and great value. My advice is don't go here if you're really hungry as the sushi isn't that filling, it's more for a light lunch or dinner. I can't wait until I return.

“Average”
Reviewed 2 August 2014 via mobile

We decided this restaurant because of the good reviews, but the food is average, quite expensive and the service is not the best.
The sushi looked nice but once in your mouth you could literally feel all the flavours of the ocean, terrible...
I am not sure why the reviews are so great, I would say it is an average-low Japanese restaurant.

Obento is a good japanese restraunt.but very small and cramped
Wagamama is overpriced and the food is not great
but the sakura imho is actually the best place for japanese food in belfast, very warm atmosphere and the servers are so friendly and professional
beautifully decorated, wonderful music , the food is delicious.

I have been to this restaurant a number of times and have never had a bad meal. The tempura maki duck rolls are definitely worth a try.
