This very well fitted out bar and restaurant is located in the centre of Ballycastle opposite O'Connor's bar and restaurant
This is a good big bar with traditional décor including the gas fire! . The staff are attentive and the food is good with some fresh seafood on offer.

“Busy outside quiet in”

Service was good and there was no rush and staff very friendly, food was good value for money and you were able to relax away from the hustle and bustle of the fair.

“Excellent for Large Parties as well as Small”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 27 August 2014

Every year a large contingent of us travel to Ballycastle for the annual tennis tournament in July. At the end of the week, we love nothing more than to go to the Central Wine Bar in Ballycastle.
Not only do they quite happily accommodate about 30 of us, but they are brilliant at organising seating arrangements for us, the kids all sit together and the adults have their own tables.
The service is brilliant, especially considering the size of the party we have. We had people playing in tennis matches, who were literally running off the court for their meal. The Central staff were very happy to hold meals until these guests were ready and were always helpful and smiling.
The food speaks for itself, so tasty and never disappointed. Every year we look forward to this night, and are made to feel very relaxed and comfortable.

Equally we'd been up earlier in the year, with another couple and it was just as fabulous in an intimate setting.

Looking forward to next year, my favourite restaurant in Ballycastle :)

“Let down by the food”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 25 August 2014

After spending the day seeing family, walking across the rope bridge and enjoying Barry's we where starving and liked the look of the menu so headed in. Greeted at the door we were asked to head upstairs because it was full downstairs (a good sign for a Monday). Once upstairs we were told that because it was busy there would be a wait which was fine (rather get told up front), we were then shown to a table. Once at the table it took 15 minutes before someone took a drinks order, another 15 minutes before the food order was taken and 30 minutes before we got our order. During that time we where seen by someone who offered free onion rings because of the wait. When the food came (burger and honey glazed chicken) it was disappointing to say the least. starting with the chicken dish, the chicken was deep fried and forget being glazed, the wok fried veg was half a red onion and a slice of pepper and finally the worst part was the sticky rice. It was just over cooked rice and worst of all it was cold (not good for my pregnant wife). The burger, lets just say the best part was the bun, hash brown and relish. The free onion rings, they were the bottom bits of a bag of sliced onion. When asked 'is everything OK with your meal?' I voiced my toughs and the waitress went for the manager. The manager handled the matter very well, offered replacements etc but by this time it was 9.30 and there is a take away down the street so we said no. The manager did not want payment for the meal and gave us a voucher (which we gave to a family friend because we won't be in NI again until March, after the 6 month use by date). The staff did their best but the food, the reason we went, let the whole place down.

“Upper scale restaurant ”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 20 August 2014 via mobile

We stopped with a small tour of 16. They did a good job of taking our orders and getting the food out quickly. Wine was average and not a great selection for a wine bar. Modern take on the good. I recommend going to something with more local flavor.
