“Poor cleanliness and no supervision of puppies and kittens”
Reviewed 21 August 2013

I had a few issues with our visit this summer. Firstly there is no supervision of the animals within the farm especially puppies and kittens. I observed on several occasions children handling the kittens and hurting them on several occasions. The puppies were under the age of 8wks old but yet were not with their mum which is highly inappropriate for puppies welfare and future bonding. Children were able to walk into the pens and I noticed two children squirting the pups with a water gun. They were also lifting the puppies inappropriately. This can all cause a recipe for disaster when the pups move to their new homes after being badly treated. There was no hand wash or paper towels on several occasions during our visit.

There are two showers which were very dirty. There are two toilets for both users of caravans/tents and visitors to the farm which is not sufficient. They are also not very clean.
Facilities within the farm are great and the kids enjoyed them thoroughly.

We have stayed in Watertop Campsite now a couple of times. I had booked and paid in full for a third stay but unfortunately something came up during the week and i had to ring them to postpone my stay until the week after. Unfortunately the camp site was full the week after and i couldn't book, it wasnt convenient any other time. The guy on the phone, i think his name was Ken, got a wee bit cheeky with me and said he was keeping my payment (which was made in full) stating that they had to turn people away all the time. I had given them plenty of notice of cancellation and found them extremely awkward when it came to getting my payment refunded. I was decent enough to give plenty of notice of cancellation, (more than 72 hours) and if they had to turn people away all the time then i am sure it wouldn't have been difficult enough to get it rebooked by someone else, therefore making a 100% profit by 'stealing' my money! It was the attitude that annoyed me. The campsite itself is just ok. The toilets were dirty and full of flies and the showers (only 2) were very basic. I would have given a great review if we had've been treated differently but unfortunately service counts these days. We would have gone back again and again, but lack of understanding and service has made our minds up.

Room Tip: Choose a site away from the water tap or you will be 'runnin' all night long.

Best farm I have evre been to. My son and whole family including grandparents had a fantastic day! Very good prices and so much to do between sheep racing, boats, horse rides, quad train, much more including of course the lovely animals! Staff were very friendly and enthusiastic about their job. Will most certainly be back.

Watertop Farm is a very good day out for the family. There are thing to do for all ages. We went as a family with 2 young children (6 & 2) and had a wonderful day. There are lots to do, from the paddy wagon and quad train to the more gentle boat lake and walks around the farm, and lots and lots more. There is a cafe and shop, which are are very reasonable. There are lots of places to have picnics. Overall a very good day out for not a lot of money.

Room Tip: Take a picnic and have a walk up to old dans chair. You can see almost all the 500 acres from here.

We did this as part of a day trip. We had a great day and our kids (3 aged under 10) had an absolute ball. Lots of activites and things to keep the children busy. also had bite to eat in cafe which was lovely. Weather was great on day we visited. Will definitely be back again!

we went there today and found everything good..we were only day visitors and have been before and we did see an improvement this time..i would suggest a couple of blue light fly killers for the cafe area as it is a bit off putting with so many flies buzzing around..The food is nice and i had the veg soup kids( 3 )each had hot dogs and wife had chicken filled salad sandwich..only fault there was staff didn't listen to my wife's order of the cook could not read as there was no butter or mayo on bread as asked for..I have read other reviews and i feel some are a little harsh like it is a farm and i noticed some came dressed today as if going to a wedding and looked very out of place...its a farm...i enjoyed the museum it brought back memories as i was brought up on a farm in Florencecourt and i had an uncle who lived in a house like this with the open fire..the items need renumbered as some have none on and this would help the younger folk understand what they are and what they were used for even i was lost as to the names and uses of a few...so maybe this be something management would consider doing...I have been to a few other farms in area Leslie hill (now Closed )and i find it difficult to compare this one as leslie hill had some nice fruit gardens and deer again something for consideration...all in all i would encourage all family and friends to visit and i would like to come and stay in a tent ...the strict 11pm rule is a bit off putting as most people would want to enjoy a couple of drinks and have a wee natter with other campers it the difference being on holiday brings out in most people so i would suggest the owners relax a bit most people can behave....i have stayed at benone golden sands caravan site and the owner there is always running around shouting at the kids and hounding the camping vans at night very off putting,,,a good friendly campsite to stay i find is Causeway coast(formally Silverclifts) in ballycastle and it is very handy for your farm...We will be calling again enjoyed the day and the thunder and lighting....keep up the good work it is great to have a farm like this to bring the kids.

this was my third time camping at Watertop farm and it was as brilliant as the first time. there are activities for every age from the petting zoo to pony trekking and the kids only moan when the quad train closes for the night. thoroughly enjoyed our stay and highly reccomend.
