“Great stay”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 12 April 2013

We had a 2 bedroom caravan which was well equipped and clean. It was just out of season so it was quiet. It was a great place to explore the causeway coast and not too far from Belfast. It is walking distance from the town centre. The staff were helpful and friendly and we got our £30 deposit back within 2 weeks of leaving. No complaints whatsoever.

We have stayed at this caravan park a few times. Both times we have had to make a deposit payment of £30.00, I don't think they ever intend to repay this, unless people ring to enquire about it. Both times I was told I damaged the accommodation, which was untrue. After at least 2 months ringing/emails about this, they realised any error had been made and a cheque would be sent. I'm still waiting on this from my October break 2012

No entertainment on site for the kids, swimming pool closed, shop closed most of the time? The staff on the site are nice, not so good at the head office

I really don't think the service we received is good enough.

Stayed at Silvercliffs on a short break at the end of September, booked through the Sun on a promotion. Was pleasantly surprised by our chalet. Nice size, heated throughout. Only thing that let it down was the tiny t.v. on site facilities were non existant. On site pub never opened until late evening but nevertheless we got out and about exploring the surrounding areas, giant's causeway etc.. the problem arose after we left. We paid a £30 deposit and their terms and conditions state it will be returned within 14 days after you vacate. Couldn't understand why this took so long as normally you would get it upon actually leaving anywhere else..14 days passed, no cheque. Rang the site. Got an apology saying the lady who deals with refunds was off that day and she would sort it upon her return tomorrow. Still no cheque. Rang and spoke to Silvercliffs manager. He said he thought the lady had dealt with the refunds and if we had not received it by the end of the week contact him again. Another week passed, still no cheque. Rang again got diverted to head office cause silvercliffs manager was off. Spoke to Karen. Said Mr Hagan was on holiday and we would get it within the next 2 weeks. I said this was unacceptable as their terms and conditions stated within 14 days. She took my name and number and said she would put it on the list!! It's now 4 weeks since we left and we're still waiting........can safely say will NEVER go again. Horrendous service...

We stayed at Silvercliffs for 3 days in September. Prior to our arrival we were asked to pay a £30 refundable deposit. When we were leaving we were told that the deposit would be returned immediately. We contacted Hagens in October and were informed that the cheque had been sent. Its now November and the deposit has still not been received. I have e-mailed on four occassions now asking for an update. No respone. This has ruined what was a great few days in Northern Ireland.

We stayed at Silvercliffs for the week at the end of October and was surprised after reading a couple of negative reviews.

We arrived late after reception had closed and rang the mobile number which was the very very friendly on site warden who lives the adjacent bungalow. He told us everything we needed to know and issued us with a welcome pack and map of the park to our caravan where we are able to park right beside it so no long walking with luggage.

We stayed in a 3 bedroom caravan which upon entry was very clean and had been looked after. The beds were surprisingly comfortable and had a great nights sleep every night. The kitchen area was well equipped and again very clean.

The TV was a 14" portable with a freeview box connected and had no problems with the reception on it.

The bathroom also clean had a good shower with a family of 4 it didn't go cold after a couple of uses and maintained warm water.

The only negative was this time of the year it can get very cold inside a caravan however the gas heater in the lounge warmed the room up quickly and we were supplied with 3 electric heaters for each room. Being fire conscious we switched all these off over night and donned pajamas to bed.

As for the park itself I can't comment too much as we were out all day everyday we were there and purely used it as a place to sleep.

As mentioned in other reviews the shop is now permanently closed however there is a large Spar Supermarket just down the road which is a mere 5 minute walk or 30 second drive away.

The Swimming Pool was closed due to low season again this wasn't a problem as we went to Coleraine Leisure centre which has a fantastic swimming pool which is only £2.20 for 2 hours and parked the car for 60p in the adjacent car park. I believe you had to pay £2 or £3 to use the pool at Silvercliffs anyway.

We also didn't use the onsite pub 'The Gawn Inn' so again I can't comment but there was no noise or rowdiness coming from it so just took it as a normal village pub.

The park is very secure with CCTV, the gates are locked from 11pm to 9am and if you wish to exit the park there is an automatic barrier outside the wardens bungalow so you can exit but not come back in (not ideal if you're going to get the morning paper) but you can park in the reception car park and walk back to your caravan and retrieve the car later.

Above all we had no complaints about the park for what we paid although I will say if you're looking for Butlins or Haven standard you won't find it here.

If you're purely going to use it as a base for touring the beautiful Causeway Coast then it's an ideal location.

Furthermore, Ballycastle is a great little town with plenty of shops, pubs, restaurants, takeaways and other facilities.

Room Tip: By the sounds of it the chalets are very dated, the caravan was clean and tidy so i'd go for one...
