“Lovely B&B With a View”
Reviewed 20 May 2013

My husband and I stopped here after leaving Belfast on our "tour the north coast" day. My parents had stayed here nearly a year before (almost to the date) and I found their review in the guest book. I can't say enough about it, absolutely lovely and Genevieve is an absolute doll. Start your drive in Portrush, then head east along the coast and sleep in Ballycastle here for the night. You won't be disappointed.

This was a wonderful little B&B with stunning views of the water in Ballycastle. Genevieve, the owner, was incredibly sweet and accommodating throughout the three nights my friend and I stayed there. The room and bathroom was very clean (we stayed in the twin ensuite room). The house is a beautiful house with lots of antique furniture, and the decorations in the room were really pretty. The room had a bit of a Victorian feel to it. The bathroom was quite large, and the water was nice and hot (though the water pressure is a little light). There is plenty of space to put your things in the bathroom. It was quite cold when we stayed, and although Genevieve does keep the heat on in the house, it gets quite cool, so be prepared with warm pj's if you go in the cooler season (which might be all the time in Ireland). The comforters on the beds are really warm, so no worries about being cold when you sleep. Breakfast is wonderful, especially the fresh eggs from her moms chickens every morning, and the fireplace in the dining area is fantastic. Overall, this was a great place to stay in Ballycastle!

Our stay at the Ardaghmore was our first stay in a B&B and now we would not stay anywhere else in our travels. Genevieve was so welcoming and extremely helpful during our stay and by the end of our visit we felt like we had made a new friend. The rooms overlooking the Bay and Fair Head were of the highest quality and everything was always spotless. The breakfasts were to die for in a lovely room with great views. It is located close to the town centre but not in it, which was perfect for us. We hope to return to Ballycastle one day and the Ardaghmore is the only place we will even consider staying. Thank you Genevieve for such a wonderful stay.

Room Tip: Ask for the Fairhead Room or the Rathlin Room - great views.

The owner welcomed us will panache. She was friendly, helpful and kind. The house was charming (2 story, renovated old fashioned with lovely appointments in the old world style). The rooms were charming, very clean and well appointed. Breakfast was great! The B&B is situated very near the shops and restaurants and marks the start of the Causeway walk.

Room Tip: Rooms are upstairs.

We also stayed in the Rathlin room with marvellous views of the isalnd and the Mull of Kintyre etc.

The separate bathroom was no problem with robes provided and also being just a few steps away from the bedroom.

We also found the recommended Central Bar to be first class but as "wrinklies" we have to say that it was certainly not within walking distance with the town centre being some distance away.

On the positive side we enjoyed our stay and the B & B is well managed in a very friendly manner, close to the harbour and in an ideal spot for touring the Antrim coast.

Room Tip: Rathlin just for the views

My wife and I completed a stay just a week ago (Oct 5 2012). We had the Rathlin Room and were very pleased with our overall stay. The room was spacious, with a gorgeous view of the Ballycastle harbor, Rathlin Island, and the Mull of Kintyre (when the clouds broke). This is a very well run B&B, Genieve is a great hostess and treated us extra special. Our "full Irish" breakfast was excellent and we enjoyed the conversation with other guests over our meal. G also was spot on with a dinner recommendation in BC, The Central Wine Bar, where we enjoyed probably the best dinner we had on our entire Ireland trip. If you want a nice, quite place to stay and relax while in the Ballycastle area, I highly recommend the Ardaghmore. You won't be disappointed.

My husband and I had the pleasure of staying here in the spring of 2008. We had such a wonderful time, especially with Genevieve's hospitality. The view was spectacular! And the location was perfect....close to town for shopping and eating out. And close to the beach for walks. Genevieve was kind enough to give us a tour of the boiler room and the rest of the house, since we were so curious as to how the water heating system worked. We loved our room, well, both of them. Breakfast was fabulous! If we ever make it back to Ballycastle, (and I hope we do), we will definitely stay here again. The people in Ballycastle were very sweet and helpful. We loved the local pubs. Close to the Giant's Causeway, also. It's been too long, but Genevieve, THANK YOU SO MUCH! Loved it!
