“Our Daughters Wedding Reception”
Reviewed 12 August 2011

Our daughters wedding reception was held on August 6th at this hotel. Because we live in England ourselves, the bride and about 40 guests who had travelled over were all staying at the hotel. From arriving on the wednesday to leaving on monday the service we received was absolutely excellent. Nothing was too much trouble for Garrett and Johnny, They really went out of their way to make sure everything ran smoothly. The wedding breakfast and buffet food were superb. We found the rest of the staff very friendly and hardworking especially the restaurant staff. All our guests were full of praise for this hotel.

Room Tip: Our room was at the back of the hotel with a pleasant veiw of the fields

We met up with friends prior to a wedding elswhere. We were well greeted, room was more than fine. We had dinner in the reastaurant which was very good & very well served. Breakfast next morning was excellent - a very pleasant stay & well recommended.

Comfortable hotel, lovely and helpful staff.
Food was great. My only gripe was that food for my two year old was served on piping hot plates (chefs should be advised by waiting staff when very young kids are at the table!)
Swimming pool is lovely. Guests are only allowed use the pool at certain times so it's possible to work your itinerary around this. Armagh City Hotel is within easy access of Belfast.

Room Tip: Family room consisted of dbl bed and 2 sgls (ideal for us - 2 adults and 2 children)

Myself and my Husband booked this hotel for our Wedding as we liked the location as it was close to our ceremony venue and family.

Our guests enjoyed the food and it could not be faulted. The soup, hot starter and main were delicious. Our names where spelt wrong on our dessert plates, which annoyed my husband slightly. A member of staff knew a guest and spent at least 15 mins chatting at the table with her, courses being served around her, which we thought was rude. Especially as there was so little guests at the wedding, a small family occasion.

That night when we went up to our room, neither suit case was in the room, I asked several members of staff to locate it they wandered off and a very nice bouncer went and located it after about half an hour of being ignored by other staff.

The room was not decorated with rose petals, candles etc as promised.

We were told we were to have a free wine reception as part of putting the deposit down at a wedding fayre. We received the free tea and coffee and bottle of champagne that are provided free of charge to all weddings, no sign of wine etc... So either they forgot the wine or there was a lot of double talk to get a deal signed.

Breakfast in bed the next morning was freezing cold and came with beans despite asking for no beans.

So the food was beautiful, except breakfast. The room was a good size, and clean. But the service and the lack of detail put a dampener on our day and still upsets us.

Were do I begin to praise our stay at this hotel. From the minute we booked until our checkout it was the most enjoyable experience ever. Food was fantastic, we tried steak deal on the Friday night and also ate in the restaurant on Sat... John who works in the restaurant was very helpful as 1 of us had a dietary requirement and he guided us to what would suit and this was great as some place make feel as you bothering then when you ask a question about what in menu. Breakfast was very good also and for having a fry not a drop of greaseto be seen. Melaine on reception was very helpful and know her stufff as to advise us what to do and see.
When we are back over I will certainly visit the hotel.

We stayed at the Armagh City Hotel for a wedding recently. I was one of the bridal party. My friend who was getting married was a tad bridezilla, but this did not annoy the hotel staff, they looked after her every need! Bless them!!! I had contacted the hotel prior to the wedding regarding reception entertainment, and nothing was an issue with them. They were so helpful!

The food in the hotel was superb. The rooms were very nice also, one downside was the rooms or hotel in general did not appear to have airconditioning and you may think that its not needed, but it was the weekend we were there.

The breakfast the following morning was a large buffet, with a great variety of foods, fresh pastries, yogurts and of course a good selection of Ulster Fry!!

We stayed around the hotel most of the morning. We had lovely tea and scones in their coffee dock area of the hotel, and then sat outside on the terrace overlooking the rugby club,

We ate in the resturant that night and had starter, main course (FILLET STEAK) and wine for 22pounds each. Which was very good.

I would give this hotel top marks for attention to detail, customer service and a nice athmosphere. The only downside was the heat in the hotel, but since it was a nice day we sat outside.

The beds in the hotel were so comfortable, i never had as good nights sleep. We asked when booking in if we could get a room with a nice view, the receptionist did just that and give us a room with its own balcony!!! Very nice!

I would recommend this hotel to anyone. Armagh is a lovely city. It is only a short trip away from where we live, 30 mins to be exact, but it was so nice to stay rather than drive home.
The hotel seem to cater for large groups in the resturant, and i believe there is a niteclub attached, but don't let this put you off, you cannot hear it, we had the room windows open all night and could not hear it.

Finally i felt it was so nice that the hotel managers made it their business to greet the wedding party on arrival and find out all their names. The called everyone by name all night. Its little touches like this you remember about a hotel! The only place of the hotel we didnt get to visit was the leisure centre, but friends did and they said it was lovely.
