Important history for anyone visiting the area. the centre is new and well designed. The audio info is good and informative about St Patrick. Visit the grave first and walk down to the centre. Enjoy the facilties and gift shop.

As St. Patrick is my personal patron saint this was a nice treat for me. Beware that there is a climb if you want to see his grave. There is an audiovisual presentation that is worth seeing. Also, the small dining area upstairs is run by intellectually challenged individuals. Those kids are very friendly but it took four times to get our sandwich order correct. The gardens are beautiful!

For 3 pounds a person this is a deal. The exhibit and the audio visual program are a good introduction to the life and legend of St. Patrick. I appreciate the honesty of those that put the exhibit together, they clearly have been clear that many of the accounts attributed to Patrick are likely fanciful. I did note however that there is no mention at all of the stories of Patrick's work in Munster or at the Hill of Tara. Is this because these places are in the Republic and outside of N. Ireland?

The museum is very good, but has so much in it that its hard to take it all in. I liked a video where the different experts were all saying something different, like St Patrick was born in Mayo, then another says Wales, then another says he must have been born in England! There are all these little terraced gardens outside that are lovely.

We stopped in Down Patrick whilst researching my Fathers family history. We wandered up to St. Patricks grave then found our way down to this Cafe for lunch. Very nice food, good service. We did not have time to look around the exhibit., but stopped in tourist info. where a helpful lady gave us maps and information for the rest of our trip.
