“Boho Bistro Chic by the sea”
Reviewed 13 October 2013

Bistro Castillo is a welcome addition to this charming tree lined village, adding to its already continental feel. The food is good and well presented. Small details make such a difference, and here unusual cutlery and accessories have been carefully chosen to add to the experience. It is closed on Mondays, but well worth a visit the rest of the week, for late breakfast, coffee, lunch,or dinner, while on a trip round this scenic area of Lecale.

“Beautiful, cosy bistro along the County Down coast in a pretty little village!”
Reviewed 3 October 2013 via mobile

Taken back by the unique interior that makes Castillo a relaxing social experience with friendly attentive staff. Returned for dinner after having a delicious seafood chowder and homemade bread. Myself and my party had starters and mains of which all were flawless. Looking forward to returning throughout the winter weeks along with some nice wine and friends.

“Just what the village needs!”
Reviewed 2 October 2013

Being a local, nothing more thrills me when there is a tasty, reasonably priced venue that is right on my doorstep.
Castillo hits all the right spots, and taste buds. From duck salad, to oyster sauce and beef, to chicken sandwiches, this bistro has it all.
Just passing call in for a superb coffee, or a bit more time to spare why not have some lunch, or dinner at the weekend for a treat. Such friendly staff and great food I can't speak more highly of the place. Plus BYOB can't beat it.

“An amazing melting pot of flavours in this beautifully designed bistro off the beaten track! A real hidden gem.”
Reviewed 29 September 2013

Where can I start? One would never expect to find this new amazing bistro hidden away in the sleepy picturesque village of Killough but I am so glad I did. Firstly, when you step into Castillo the eclectic mix of middle eastern even north african colours and textures immediately make you feel at home - it is so inviting, warm and comfortable. Secondly, the food, WOW. I'm finding it hard to describe, the menu is not what one usually expects in a little village in N. Ireland. It is a mix of French, Spanish and Middle eastern flavours along with some very traditional dishes for the not so adventurous. I think it is fair to say that everyone from the biggest foodie to someone with the plainest tastes could find something tasty on this menu. I have only eaten here at lunchtime but some of the items we tried were Seafood chowder, french clafoutis, amazing fennel salad with baked polenta, gorgeous couscous, home made apple tart...I could go on forever...I cannot wait to try the dinner menu and it is even byob! Whether you fancy a long dinner/lunch or a quick coffee and a warm scone get to Castillo quick before everyone finds out about it.
