The Enniskeen Hotel is as close to perfection as it gets. The location is amazing with breath-taking views of the Mournes from many of the rooms and restaurant and bar area. The grounds are lovely too and there is a lovely river walk to enjoy. The hotel is ideally situated with plenty of parking and close enough to enjoy a nice a walk to the town centre.

The bedrooms are tastefully decorated and characterful and each one is unique which is a breath of fresh air. Many of the rooms have stunning views of the Mournes and it is amazing to watch the daylight fade over the Mountains. The Foyer is nice too and there is a nice little area to sit at the fireplace. The Guests lounge on the first floor is a lovely place to relax and enjoy the views of the spectacular mountains and countryside.

The food in the hotel is fantastic, the breakfast menu is excellent and for lunch there is the choice of bar snacks or the restaurant lunch, both are excellent. and there is nothing as nice on a sunny day to enjoy lunch on the patio with what has to be the most stunning aspect in N Ireland. In the Evenings there is the option of High Tea and A La Carte. There is also the option that if you take one of the deals that 1 dinner per person is included up to a certain value and this is a brilliant option. The potatoes and vegetables are served by the staff and this adds to the experience and the feeling of being made welcome and important.

We have stayed on this hotel on many occasions and even on a day trip it is never enough just to have lunch, we find ourselves back again for dinner too!

Every hotel should have someone like Eileen, she is worth her weight in Gold and always provides a customer service masterpiece. We are always made to feel special and this is quite unique. The other staff are also very professional and friendly.

The winter months are spent pondering how long is it until the Enniskeen opens again? The first spring visit is always greatly anticipated. And no matter what hotel we visit it is measured against the Enniskeen and I can often be heard saying it is good but it is not the Enniskeen!!!

There are usually plants and preserves for sale in the foyer and this all adds to the homely ambience of the hotel.

Roll on March!

Room Tip: Ask for a room with views of the Mournes.

Our daughter planned our week traveling in Northern Ireland. After flying into Dublin she drove us through the Mourne mountains to Enniskeen Country House Hotel. We'd driven through a most beautiful part of N IRELAND and was amazed to find this was where we were spending the night. I felt so overwhelmed by everything from our room, the food, and the scenery. For dinner I had succulent lamb chops, saying a silent prayer for the soul of the departed lamb for the chops were so delicious.

The breakfast offering was quite extensive and the jams were especially tasty on homemade Irish bread. After breakfast I stopped in the kitchen to compliment the cooks who were appreciative of compliments of their jam. As we left we were able to purchase jars of gooseberry jam and rhubarb ginger.

If I ever return to the Enniskeen Country House, I will wear my rhinestone tiara for I truly feel that I'd stayed at Downton Abbey. Everything was truly over the top!!

We stayed in this lovely hotel for a weekend, Saturday to Monday. It was very relaxing, lovely atmosphere, attentive staff and excellent food. The surroundings were beautiful, our room looked out to the mountains, which was very nice, especially when the clouds lifted. That was the only problem we had....the weather, but the lovely hotel made up for that. The dining room was very olde worlde , with lovely wood panelling on the walls and nice soft background music. The menu was varied and very well cooked and presented. Our room was comfortable and a very satisfactory shower en suite.

We stayed here on a lovely sunny bank holiday weekend and booked the room with the balcony which looks out over the Mournes. Would highly recommend this room.

The staff were excellent and couldn't be more helpful, we've returned since then to have some afternoon tea on their terrace. The hotel is nicely situated about 10 mins walk from Newcastle, with lovely well maintained grounds.

As others have stated it has an old world charm about it, but does updating in some areas. The bedroom we stayed in was fresh and modern, and would rather stay here than the impersonal Slieve Donard nearby.

My husband and I stayed at the enniskeen for our wedding weekend and loved it. My bridesmaids and I stayed the night before the wedding too and the staff were so accommodating on the morning of the wedding. The room we stayed in had stunning views, we had breakfast every morning and Sunday lunch before we left - food is lovely. Beautiful grounds and surroundings with a lovely wee river walk. Very friendly staff. Great hotel for a quiet/peaceful weekend in Newcastle.

Just returned home from a pleasant stay at the Enniskeen Hotel, formally the country home of R J Murray the tobacco magnate whop originally came from Virginia. He built his country residence in a fabulous place on the outskirts of Newcastle in the late 1890s
later occupied by Major Panter and before being bought by the family who have been running it aas a hotel since 1960 was lived in H Lidell a well know figure in the linen industry
The exterior and interior are in keeping with having been a country house of some renound. as a base it is fairly central to Castlewellan Hilltown Newry Kilkeel Rosstrevor and Warrenpoint , if you travel roungd these places a good lunch stop would be the Lough and Quay. The staff at Enniskeen are friendly and helpful and the food is excellent. The balcony bedroom looks out onto Slieve Donard, Tomases Mountain and also the back od Commedah mountain. If you are seeking Old world charm, tranquility and friendly hospitality it is worth booking into the Enniskeen House Hotel

Room Tip: Balcony bedroom costs 20 pounds extra but worth it for views of mountains

In August, 2016, 19 golfers took over all the beds at Enniskeen Country House. Overall our experience was very good. Breakfasts are great as was the group dinner that we started our trip with. Considering the relatively small size, the food is outstanding. Especially liked that there are several sitting areas to relax and visit. The bar is an added attraction. This was my second trip, so I knew that this is an old country home and is a bit dated; however, is very comfortable. The staff is considerate, well trained and exceptionally hard working. For golfers, this is a great alternative to the much more expensive and impersonal Slieve Donnard.
