“Great place to stay. Love It.”
Reviewed 21 July 2014

This was our second time at the Amble In. We really enjoyed Frances and Colm . They are so friendly, warm and personable. Their knowledge of the area is extensive and we enjoyed all the historic sites they directed us to.This is a great place to hike the Mourn Mountains and Tollymore Forest Park (A Game of Thrones location). The B&B is a ten minute walk away from the Mourn Mountain trails, The Beach is even closer. After being out for the day it was nice to come back to a clean modern en-suite room to freshen up before walking to town for dinner. We are planning for our next stay there.

We found that the Amble In was a very central and accommodating premises to stay in on a recent visit to County Down in Northern Ireland. Colm and Frances made our stay very enjoyable and their knowledge of the area and what to see and do was first class. We would have no problem recommending their establishment to anyone looking for a lovely and welcoming place to stay.

Room Tip: The rooms are spacious and well appointed

Colm and Frances made us feel very much at home at the Amble In. Bedroom was clean and well equipped, breakfast was good and the information Colm provided on climbing Slieve Donard was much appreciated!

Ideal for walkers, this B&B is located in the heart of Newcastle town by the Mourne Mountains (within walking distance of Slieve Donard).

I stayed two nights. The owners are friendly and welcoming and are keen walkers with a good knowledge of the Mournes - they gave plenty of advice and Colm was even kind enough to give me a lift to the hills to allow me to follow a linear route back to Newcastle.

The B&B is also within a few minutes' walk of a range of restaurants - ideal for putting the pounds back on that you've worked so hard to shift on your way up Donard...

My room (the one with three single beds) was clean and had an en-suite shower and toilet plus the usual basic coffee-making facilities. There was a TV (though I didn't use it so cannot comment on its reception).

I had a cooked breakfast which was tasty. The dining room also contains a number of walking books and maps that you can borrow / peruse.

There's space for off-road parking though some juggling might be required if there are many other guests. There is enough room to park on the opposite side of the road, and I'd recommend this as it's easier.

In summary I recommend this B&B, particularly for walkers, and I hope to return.

This b&b was everything we required for our 1 night stay whilst attending a wedding at the nearby Slieve Donard Hotel. The location is perfect in a quiet location just off the main street. Our hosts, Colm and Frances tended to our every and made us feel welcome even from the moment we booked!!
A hearty breakfast set us on our way and we would have no hesitation returning.

I stayed in the Amble Inn during the start of May 2014 carrying out a survey camp in Tollymore Forest park. The service was nothing but the best from Colm and Francis, the rooms where spacious and quiet, and exceptionally clean. With a hearty breakfast both mornings to top my stay off in the Amble Inn, I couldn't complain. Thanks to Colm and Frances for their wonderful service.
