“Great B&B really enjoyed our stay”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 18 June 2012

This B&B has a great location just next to the bloody bridge on the outskirts of Newcastle. The B&B overlooks the bay with wonderful vies to the front.

The hosts very nice and friendly and very helpful.

The breakfas was really good and they were very accommodating on time.

All and all a very nice B&B that is dog friendly (even when you do chases their chickens around the garden)

Room Tip: I think the lighthouse room looked great when we had a noisy peak in

Stayed several nights while walking in the Mournes. Perfect location, looking out to sea with the mountains behind. You can walk straight out and onto the hill, after an excellent breakfast. Thank you, Michaela and Gerry, for such hospitality.

We stayed here for one night on a family holiday. The owners are welcomng and friendly; breakfast in the morning is excellent. The rooms are very spacious and comfortable, my parents room had a little lounge area so we could sit round in the evening and have a glass of wine. Having mentioned this earlier in the evening Michaela had already laid wine glasses out for us! Dogs are welcome, and as the B&B is separate to the owners living area our dog was able to potter about freely indoors. We'd highly recommend it and for future trips to the Mournes we'd stay here. The walk up the gorge at Bloody Bridge next door is well worth it. Mourne coastal path is also right near your door.

We stayed one night at the Broadcove B&B at the beginning of a road trip round the north eastern coast of Ireland. The cottage is located in a beautifu spot on the edge of the mountains, just before Bloody Bridge on the coast road into Newcastle. The view across to the sea is stunning.

We received a warm welcome from Michaela as soon as we arrived (and the family's two dogs). We were shown to the Lighthouse Room - a double room of a really generous size, with a large dressing area and bathroom en-suite. Views from the bedroom right over the sea. All the usual facilities such as TV, kettle, tea etc were there. Everything was spotlessly clean.

Special feature about this B&B is the full kitchen which is available for guests use and there were also washing facilities for clothes and a BBQ area outside. So you could easily have a longer stay and cater for yourself if you wanted too.

For breakfast there was cereals, yoghurts, wheaten bread and a tasty Ulster fry complete with soda bread & potato bread.

Lovely stay and would definitely return again.

Room Tip: Lighthouse Room has great sea view

We received a very warm welcome throughout our stay and had a lovely spacious room with adjacent en-suite dressing room and bathroom. It is a beautiful quiet location near the coastal path. We were well looked after during our visit and it suited us not being near the town (but within easy driving distance for dinner).
We hope to come back again to stay and walk in the Mourne mountains.

I stayed here for one night as part of my cycling tour of co.down and the mournes region and was really pleased with my choice of b&b as it was an idylic cottage set at the foothill of the mourne mountains boasting panoramic views over the irish sea to the front and equally nice views of the mountains to the rear.I arrived at 5pm and was warmly welcomed by gerry the owner who lives in one half of the cottage with his wife and children and who really made me feel at home.I had a shower and then took a 2 min stroll down to bloodybridge which is a very popular walking track with ramblers young and old enjoying the beautiful scenery. From here I hopped on a bus in to newcastle for a much needed meal after my long day of cycling which cost £2 and makes this place accessible for anyone without a car or who wants to leave the car at home and have a nice relaxing break as there are regular buses from belfast, armagh etc.taxi back cost £4.I had a lovely breakfast the next morning(made to order) then left after saying my cheerios to gerry and set off on my homeward bound journey to lurgan.I had a pleasant stay here and would recommend it to anyone looking for a nice relaxing peaceful retreatwhilst visiting the mournes or newcastle.
