my husband and i stayed one night recently in this hotel. fantastic place to stay found it very relaxing, our room was fabulous it overlooked the sea, dinner in the oak room was excellent with brilliant and friendly service as was our breakfast the following morning. the staff in every area of the hotel we came in contact with were excellent. would recommend this hotel to people without reservation and would like to stay there again ourselves

Stayed in hotel for night in July. Reception staff very helpful and obliging as had arrived early, room not ready but was able to check in there and then so all had to do was pick up keys later. Had 4 course dinner in oak restaurant but unfortunately due to large time gap between courses only had time for main as had to be somewhere else . Food was well presented and delicious . Rooms were bright and airy . Unfortunately our room was at very top of hotel and ceiling in room very low and due to rafters very difficult to get around room without hitting head. Beds very comfortable and spacious. Breakfast was tasty but was disappointed with choice of cereals available and that there was no melon available. Surrounding and views from rooms magnificent. Spa is the absolute lap of luxury

What an amazing hotel this is! Beautiful scenery! We were made to feel more than welcome on our recent short trip to Ireland. The bed was quite possibly the biggest comfiest bed I've ever slept in, staff were polite, breakfast was lovely and the rooms immaculate...I didn't want to leave!

My self and my husband stayed here for one night while at a wedding in the hotel.
This is our first time staying here, we usually stay at another Hotel in newcastle 2-3 times a year.
While this hotel is more expensive it is well worth it.
Lovely surroundings and staff very helpful.
Food of high standards both at wedding and next morning at breakfast.
Will be back.

Room Tip: Ask for room with sea views

Having stayed in this hotel last year and been pleased by the service, I was very disappointed when my mother came home from the hotel after being on an Ulsterbus Tour. As a sprightly 75 year old who enjoys a glass of wine, I was horrified when she told me she had been charged £10.60 for a large glass even though the menu stated £8.00 per glass ( still horrifically expensive, in my view!) I have no idea whether the bar staff decided to make up their own prices or the menu was wrong, but if so, they would still have to honour the £8.00 price tag. When her friend queried it with reception, the girl shrugged as if it had nothing to do with her. The second night they tried the same thing, and only my mother kicked up a fuss and embarrassed the waiter, did she get it for the stated price! Come on Slieve Donard - don't rip off the pensioners!!

Thank you for taking your time to leave feedback. We really appreciate this as it Is very important to us.

I am sorry to hear about the problems your mother encountered at the hotel, and I will be sure to look into this. If you would be so kind and email me the dates and times of your Mother's stay I can look into this as the price was £8.00 but she was charged more.

My email address is guestservices@sdh.hastingshotels.com

Thank you for taking the time to read this, I await your reply.

Only used the spa facilities but have eaten and been at various functions in the hotel many times. The spa is excellent. Huge pool, beautiful decor, spotlessly clean and a relaxing atmosphere. Complimentary Espa products in showers and changing area let you waft out on a cloud! Beautiful changing area, dark oak? Wooden lockers, comfy leather benches, plenty of mirrors and hair dryers and complimentary products to take you unhurried back to reality!
