Description: Hugh McCann’s is family business that has been on the go for almost 40 years, the building is around 200 years old and has been sympathetically restored to preserve old world charm, yet with all modern comforts and fabulous design taking advantage of the stunning situation. The building nestles between the mountains and the sea. The restaurant looks onto the promenade and out to sea, the bar area, beer garden and wedding function room have views of the Mourne mountains. Ample parking for coaches is available nearby. Conference facilities include breathtaking 'breakout' areas, and fabulous opportunities for team building activities such as a walk in the hills or volunteering at a local national nature reserve.

Ate in here for my 4th time and like always it has never failed us. I had the squid starter which was beautiful and main of haddock which is a must. Massive haddock that hands off both sides of the plate and was fresh and cooked perfectly. There was a 5k 10k run on in Newcastle that night and once the runners finished they all called in for drinks. The place was packed to the rafters, but even at that the staff kept cool heads and got the food and drinks out at a steady rate. Fair play to them. I honestly can't rate this place enough. Warm and cosy atmosphere. Looking forward to my next visit 👍🏼
