Not the most lavish of places , but you will certainly not be disappointed. Everything you need a warm welcome which was the theme from all the staff, although basic the rooms were very comfortable, the evening meal we had was both plenty full and tasty . We enjoyed it and will be back

We were walking by this place when we heard how happy everyone sounded inside, so we called in on spec and had the most wonderful night. The atmosphere inside was superb and we ended up spending the entire night here. We took part in the charity quiz which was raising money for a local youths football club and ended up winning two bottles of wine. The quiz was lots of fun and the two guys running it were quite the entertainment. There was warm food served at half time which was a lovely gesture, it was a basket of chicken and chips that went down a treat. Friendly bar staff, lovely people. If you find yourselves in Newcastle, then we would definitely encourage you to check this place out on a Friday night

My husband and I stayed for only one night thankfully. The room had a lovely view of the sea but the decor was dingy, the room smelt strongly of disinfectant as if to mask another odour and someone's dress was hanging in the wardrobe. The bathroom was not clean. There were long brown hairs in the bath and the shower was a dribble of water. The whole place did not feel clean. Breakfast was OK. At £90 for B&B this was grossly overpriced. A real rip off. However we did have a lovely evening meal in the bistro so I would certainly recommend eating there but not for an overnight stay

Dear Cathy
Apologies for any inconvenience caused during your stay.
Unfortunately due to the shape of the building we do have rooms with slanted roofs, though we hope the view of Dundrum Bay makes up for this. We do use bleach for cleaning and no other reason. We are very sorry the room was not up to our usual standards and thank you for bringing this to our attention. Since your email a full formal staff meeting was held to question the report given by your self and try to ensure that these problems will not be repeated in the future.
Because we are a small family run hotel reviews such as this are addressed immediately.
if you read our other reviews you will see that this was an isolated incident. Apologies and regards.

On arrival our booking hadn't been received even though we had a confirmation email saying it was. Luckily enough there was a room free.
We where then asked to pay on arrival, I have stayed in many hotels & B&Bs & was in the hospitality business myself & I have never been asked to pay on arrival.
But the room we got & the friendliness of the lady with shoulder length blonde hair (sorry didn't get your name) made up for the initial problems.
The view from the room was fantastic it is so close to the water it actually looks like you're in the water. The room was spotless & the beds where amazingly comfortable.
The breakfast the following morning was one of the best I've had & we where given a refill of tea & coffee.
Would highly recommend this B&B but do ring when you book online to ensure your booking has been made, as if there isn't a free room you could end up disappointed.

Had a lovely meal here after a charity walk up the hill. Got the steak deal (2 X steaks with sides and bottle of wine) and food was all delicious. Steak was perfect, chips great and chilli potatoes to die for! Lovely staff and great value for money - would definitely revisit & recommend!

Booked for my wife's birthday. If you like seafood, this restaurant is hard to beat.Fish dishes were super fresh, beautifully presented with just the right size of portion for us. The non fish eaters in the party had a more limited menu but their food was equally up to the high standard of the other dishes. If you are in the area give this place a try, you will not be disappointed.

Visited this place last night, given it was a bank holiday we knew the place would be busy and it was, thankfully we got a table in a corner area with a reasonable view of the harbour area. Within a 10 minutes of sitting down the server came and took our order. I ordered the seafood chowder and my husband ordered the burger. After a couple of minutes the server came out to inform me that unfortunately there was no mussels available and would I still want the chowder. I still went for the chowder and it was really tasty, plenty of salmon, cod, potato, sweet corn and peas along with a pea shoot garnish and something sprinkled on the top, not sure what this was. The sauce was creamy and tasted great. This was served with 2 wheaten scones and butter and I have to say the scones where delicious, warm and fresh. I really enjoyed my chowder. My husband demolished his burger chunky chips and side in a matter of minutes saying it was delicious. We both went for dessert, I went for the chocolate brownie and vanilla ice cream. I found the brownie slightly dry but tasty none the less and the ice cream gave it that bit of moisture. My husband cleared his plate of baileys cheese cake and was really pleased with it. The server we had was really pleasant and engaged in conversation with us a couple of times and we both felt the atmosphere in the place was friendly and very welcoming. On the way out we noticed people sitting out side with their dogs this is great to see and the next time we have the dog with us I would definitely have to Harbour Inn on my list to stop off for a spot of Lunch. We will definitely be back.

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
Our property is on the South Promenade at Newcastle Harbour: The harbour is among the most richly historic areas of Newcastle. Home to many longstanding families, the area around the pier has a long association with the sea. The origins of the current harbour date back to the 1820's, when a new pier was created by Lord Annesley to replace the old one. One of the chief functions of the pier was to act as a loading point for Mourne granite, which was quarried in the hills above the harbour. If you stand on the shorter arm of the pier and look up towards the mountain you can see a path cut through the trees leading to the now defunct quarry on Millstone Mountain. In the last century, stone was quarried here and dispatched down this track to the harbour by railtrucks. It was loaded on to ships (known as Stone Boats) and used to build docks in Belfast and Liverpool and the courthouse gaol in nearby Downpatrick ... more   less
