“Second great visit”
Reviewed 14 September 2012

I stayed with Teresa and Donal 7 years ago, and was delighted that they had room for me again. You don't often meet people who are born to this kind of demanding work, but T&D definitely are; after 10 minutes with them, you feel as if you've known them for years, that's how truly friendly and lovely they are. My room, as is the rest of the house, was beautiful and so comfortable; breakfast - no one could possibly top Donal's scrambled eggs! Location is good - top end of the city, but in a real neighborhood, away from traffic. I know that I'm one of many repeat visitors, and with good reason. Do yourself the biggest favor when you visit Derry, and stay with these folks.

Since the first moment when I booked I had a good impression of them. They are very nice in person. I told her that I wanted to drink but not to drive and she offered me to take me to the city and I came back in Taxi for only 4 pounds. Beautiful area.

We spent 2 nights here and i have to say it's a really nice place! Donald and his wife are very kind and helpful, they'll help you out with the things to see around Derry or the places to eat, and it's also nice just to stop a while to talk with them about whatever you want. The rooms are clean and spacious. In the livingroom there's a tea pot always available, and you can also make hot chocolate or a cappuccino (though it's not comparable to the ones here in italy :P), or you can just sit down and relax watching tv or reading something. They don't take cards so make sure you have enough pounds to pay them cash!
It's not located in the centre of Derry, but it's very close and Derry is a small town, you can go there by car in a couple of minutes (and fortunately there's plenty of parkings in Derry).
Breakfast is very good, you can have traditional irish breakfast or you can ask Donald for whatever you want

We have stayed at Laburnum Lodge more than once and it has always been the highlight of our trip. It is not only way above clean and comfortable, but the hosts are simply lovely. They go out of their way to make sure that your stay with them and in Derry is the best that it can be. They make you feel as if you are one of the family. We wouldn't stay anywhere else when we visit Derry.

We recently stayed at the Laburnum Lodge -- owned by Theresa and Donal McCay and could not have had a more pleasant experience. Their home is lovely-- we had a fairly large ensuite bedroom, which was very nicely furnished and everything in it was immaculate. We also had access to a dining/living area which had coffee and tea available all day and which had a large flat screen TV. Theresa and Donal were very good to us ---providing us with travel literature, books about the history of Derry and suggestions about what to do and how to do it. They were also very generous to us --with their time and their hospitality. Their home is located in a quiet residential area ,which had easy access to the City Centre by car or by taxi. If you are going to the Derry area, I really do not see how you could have a better experience at any other place.

Room Tip: The entire home is equally lovely.

I stayed here last this past May. Although a little out of the city centre, it was nice to stay in a regular suburban type neighbourhood. Derry is small enough that you could walk or take a short cab ride anywhere. Teresa and Donald were great hosts and helpful as we teamed up to find a taxi ride for a reasonable rate to the Innishowen peninsula. Teresa found Vincent the driver for a great deal and affordable for a solo traveller like me. If you stay here, and want have a great experience and beautiful scenery in the Innishowen penninsula and Donegal, ask Teresa to give Vincent a call. I lucked out with beautiful sunny weather.

Room Tip: I had a room at the front of the house.
