At end of a weekend in Derry, we were looking for a good hour-long walk.

After 5 minutes drive through some minor roads, you come to a car park. Keep driving, though, to the cottage / visitor centre. No tea/coffee... Consider bringing something to drink.

After an easy work between some ponds, you're into forest land, with easy routes, or some moderate walking up some steps. We visited early Spring ... But I expect each season looks beautiful.

Bring a camera for some good shots, and keep eyes open for the signs, so you don't take a detour. And bring a coat if any chance of rain.

A great walk.

This place is great with new walkways around the forest with views over the waterfalls. Might be an idea for kids to wear wellies!

Ness and Every woods, which are connected provide a good but gentle walking experience - more an afternoon out with the kids or the dog that anything more taxing. The odd thing about the place is that there is hardly anyone there. The linked woods follow valley/glade through which flows the Ness river, with a couple of impressive waterfalls. I understand that the idea is to eventually irradicate the non-indigenous species of and trees (goodbye Rhodadendroms). There are a number of picnic tables throughout and a variety of paths althyough I have only rarely seen either in use.
