Friendly guides will answer questions. Very small church with beautiful flowers on the grounds. They did a special woven project which is on display .

“A small gem”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 10 May 2014

This is quite a small church. Although there was a church on the site since the seventeenth century, this building is Victorian. The most poignant item, I noticed was a poem written in the second world war about the church. The author was serving on board ship and was writing his memories of the church and his desire to return to it. Unfortunately, he was killed and never came back, but his poem is there for all to enjoy.

“Small but beautiful”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 16 November 2013

St Augustine's is a small church inside the city walls. It is open to visitors in the summer months. We visited on the European Heritage Open Day. It has a warm and welcoming interior. Although we did not explore the graveyard it many of the historic graves are documented. The Reverend Pat Storey from St Augustine's has been appointed the first female Cuhuch of Ireland bishop.

“Very Nice Church In the City Walls of Londonderry/Derry”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 2 October 2013

The St. Augustine's Church in Londonderry/Derry is fairly small and tucked in the City Walls, but is actually very historical (and quite a beautiful church). The present church was built in 1872, but is on the site of St. Columba's monastery from 546 AD. There are historical signs inside and outside the cathedral, telling the story of St. Columba and the historical significance of this church to Derry.

The church is free to enter, and will not take more than 20 minutes to look around, view the very intricate stained glass, and the alter. Photography is allowed inside as well.
