“Fascinating, Must See”

The Apprentice Boys Memorial Hall
Reviewed 18 July 2013

Very reasonable entrance charge of £2 which allows you to explore the building, watch a video, see the fascinating exhibits and get a guidebook about the city walls and main sights. It is worth the money for the book alone - we used it as our reference point as we walked around the walls and it was a lovely souvenir.

Staff are extremely helpful and friendly. We enjoyed the video about the Siege of Derry and the history of the city. They have some wonderful exhibits and things to look at - I was fascinated. Downstairs you can wander around the meeting rooms where the Apprentice Boys, Orange Order and Black have their own rooms - there are lots of artefacts here and great things to see, it would enhance the experience if they could have some sort of audio guide as well, so as you walk around the rooms, the significance of the objects could be explained to you.

We all thoroughly enjoyed our visit here, would definitely recommend and use it as the starting point for a walk around the walls.

It is important to visit the Free Derry and Apprentice3 Boys Memorial to understand the complicated nature of the Troubles in Northern Ireland. It is best to do both in a single day to help grasp the challenges facing the nation. Highly recommended.

Four of us visited the Memorial Hall and for a couple of pounds each we had a very interesting introduction to the siege of the City of Derry. I was pleased to be able to gain access to the various formal halls as it shows a certain willingness to reach out to the wider community. Well done for a good video presentation and the time and care put in to maintaining the exhibits. Thank you to the staff in attendance on the day.

I had the pleasure to visit here and had such a good time with gentlemen going out of their way to help my trip i will be back for sure.
The info of their traditions and beleifs is all transparent and open and we should all look at these organisations with a positive outlook.
Thanks guys

Informative and very interesting. Possibly overlooked by visitors to the city but well worth the visit to soak up some of our history.
