From the moment we walked in we were greeted by a member of management who didn't waste time in personally carrying our luggage to our room and give us excellent history and information on the hotel and especially our stunning room 'city factory'. If I could have caught his name he provided outstanding service showing us where everything was placed in our room too and really made valentines special. Dinner was fantastic and staff were always on hand no waiting involved. The friendliness and helpfulness of staff really made our stay! The hotel was immaculate all I could say is the restaurant does look a little dated and also the lighting could be a little dimmer but overall an excellent experience and will definitely be back. Push for the 5 stars guys!! Room 705

My husband and I recently stayed here on a Spring Break Deal, 1 night bed & breakfast and a 4 course evening meal for £114, that included an upgrade to a superior room with a view over the Peace Bridge.

Our bedroom and bathroom were spacious and absolutely spotless, we were well impressed!

We had a light lunch in the bar, well presented food and reasonably priced. Our evening meal was also to a high standard, there was a good selection to choose from, although we did feel that £6 supplement for a steak was a little steep. There was entertainment and dancing after dinner in the bar which created a great atmosphere.

After a restful nights sleep we enjoyed a lovely breakfast. A great choice of cereals, juice, all types of bread and a cooked selection.

We would have no hesitation in recommending this Hotel, its central location means you can explore the city easily. We have to commend the City Hotel for its excellent customer service, every member of staff we encountered during our stay were friendly, courteous and very helpful. The kind of service every hotel in Northern Ireland should be providing.

We were a party of 13 people, most booked for a living social deal, staff were lovely and helped us add on people to the group at late notice. Hotel was clean and was very busy a great buzz about the place. Having lived in derry years ago, i knew how important location was, a lot of hotels you would need taxi into town but you are only a 5 min walk from the shops and bars here. We had a lovely room over looking the peace bridge. The only thing we werent happy with was in our deal, we have B&B, evening meal and bottle of wine on arrival(excellent) When we arrived got ready for the night had a glass of wine and brought our bottle down to drink the rest with meal, we had the bottle taken off us and told we were only allowed to drink it in the room!! So you arrive at a hotel and they want you to sit in your room drinking wine! This needs to be reviewed, our group were going to buy more wine, i think we bought a extra 6 bottles so i dont think it should have been a problem to allow us to finish of our half bottle. Coming from a hotel back ground its a shame to have your guest so happy with everything else and then make a big deal about a half a bottle of wine that the hotel provided for us! I could understand if we brought our own in.
Eveything else was great, but 13 guests annoyed over something that could have been dealt with much better, I know i will hear about its was in the fine print etc etc but i am not a binge drinker, i dont really want to sit in my room drinking the wine, if it is a bottle of wine provided by the hotel i would llike to drink it in the lobby or bar or during my meal :(

My new husband and i stayed in the City hotel the day after our wedding and booked ourselves into the new penthouse rooms. We had hoped for a suite, but the hotel was fully booked that weekend so they couldn't accommodate us.

Check in was fast and friendly despite the queues. We were taken up to our room by a member of staff who showed us around and explained the design behind the St Columba room that we were staying in.

Having seen the standard of the other rooms at the hotel, i would say, if you are going to stay here, pay a bit more for the top floor, it's worth it. The room was large, very clean and really well presented. The penthouse rooms have a mini fridge with complimentary soft drinks and confectionery and the bathroom comes well equipped with toiletries.

Breakfast the next morning was plentiful and we enjoyed some time in the Jacuzzi before we checked out. The hotel also has a swimming pool and a gym,

We had a family meal at the Thompson Restaurant and there was 6 of us in total, Myself and my husband opted for the 2 courses and a bottle of wine for 2, which was reasonable priced. We opted for steaks and were cooked to our liken. My grown up children selected from the main menu and my youngest went for Child's Menu. Overall there's was great choice. We all had a very tasty enjoyable meal and we had a great attention of service.
