We made a last minute decision to have a night away for my husband's birthday. The only room available in the town was in the penthouse collection in the City Hotel. The price was more than we wanted to spend but decided to go with it anyway.
The hotel had a good buzz about it in the middle of the maritime festival and it was very busy. We arrived at the same time as a coach full of people but we didn't have to wait behind them to get checked in. The staff on reception were very friendly, helpful and welcoming. The Peace Bridge room was lovely although the view was obstructed by the wall surrounding the top of the hotel. The bed was huge and comfy and the rain forest shower was great.
We didn't have dinner in the hotel but the buffet breakfast next morning was good.
The only down side was that someone had unfortunately been smoking in the room and because the hotel was full there was nowhere to move us to, but the hotel knocked almost 20% off the price of the room.
The City Hotel definitely has the best location in the town and we would stay again.More
