“Excellent stay for my hen party of girls”
Reviewed 16 August 2012

I decided to book my hen weekend in The Tower hotel as I stayed here last year for a weekend away and thoroughly enjoyed my stay.. All the girls have been raving since our return how well treated we were by the staff in the Tower.. Food in the restaurant was top quality, breakfast just delicious and rooms beautiful.. I just want to thank all the staff we encountered on our stay for making my hen memorable.. Keep up the good work, and no doubt we will be back soon for a relaxing break .. Thank you.. From miss j Gribben and her hens xx

Aussies travelling found this hotel on Laterooms. Difficult finding parking, but eventually found parking underneath for free. Wouldn't want to have a large car. Amazing room, actually a suite, with a separate lounge/dining & large bedroom. !80 degree views from 3rd floor right next to wall. Beautiful dinner with a fantastic waitress, Kadie. Staff helpful & friendly. Good breakfast. We got a good deal.

Stay here for one night at the start of my trip around Ireland. The hotel has a great location next to Diamond Square.

Upon arrival I got checked in quickly. The room was a good size but in need of deceration. The view from the room was ok, overlooking the back of the hotel but cound see the Peace Bridge over the River Foyle in the distance.

The tv in the room was not the newest and at an angle that was not easy to see from the bed.

Wifi was not free which is a bit disappointing.

The staff were excellent, always friendly and helpful

We started a trip around Ireland and our first stop was The Tower Hotel in Derry. What a start! Staff were great, really friendly and helped in any way they could. Rooms were modern and spotless with comfortable beds and amazing views of the Foyle river from the window. We had dinner included in the offer and it was great to have such tasty food after day of sightseeing. The waiting staff were lovely and easy to talk to and did whatever they could to help. The dining room overlooks the town walls and we had lovely seat by the window to take in the views. In the morning we enjoyed a sumptuous breakfast before continuing on. It was self service and quantity was matched with quality. It was perfect start to our trip and I would recommend this hotel to anyone.

As already reviewed it is a nice hotel within the walled city of Derry. On the 4th floor there is a gym with running, workout machines but the sauna was off and the next to shower stripped for repair. If you can get a 4th. floor room at the side of the hotel that overlooks The Bogside. The view is nice and the painted murals on house walls in Bogside are visible and photos come out clear. When night falls the whole of the Bogside lights up and twinkles. Nice views. If you have a car then opt for the underground car park. Drive past the hotel entrance to the city wall gate and turn right down a narrow road. Don't go thro the walled gate. The car park entrance is 50 yards on the right. There may be a Car Park Full note on the barrier, but go in underground and if no space is visible keep to your right and right again. At the end is a concrete wall with a wire fence on the right. Park tight against the wall right up to the fence and there you have a secure parking space not in any ones way. The car parks and street don't charge from 6.30pm to 8am then it is 60p hour. Watch out if the hotel tries to direct you to the car park nearby with an attendant. There is no hotel arrangement and the charges start 8am. The Hotel location is right on the city wall for a NOT TO BE MISSED wall walk. Out the hotel door, turn right and go to the city wall. Look to your left and go up the short steps to the top. Turn Left for the Bogside views. Turn Right and take in the short walk Downhill to the Guild Hall and the cannons that once overlooked the harbor.(sometimes with student musicians playing for free. Or if you have the time do the whole walk. My wife is a dedicated shopper but even she enjoyed the wall walk, and its free. In the evening out the hotel door turn left to the war memorial, turn left Down the main road steepish hill. About 80 yards on the left look out for a black wrought metal gate that looks onto an arch and court yard. If its open go in and look around, quaint. But listen out for the Blue Grass Music meeting. I dont like Jazz nor country and western but this stuff was lovely and free. The bar was nearby with UK priced beer and the audience- nice appreciative types. If you fancy a history walk, out the hotel and Right. walk thro the wall gate and into The Bogside.Dont forget, the local people are nice and friendly and there are NO troubles or problems now and some locals will give you a free history account. Follow the road around to the left and downhill until the concrete steps 100yards or so on the right. Down the steps and keep left. By the road there is the garden of remembrance to the IRA and Blood Sunday. Over the road are the H Block memorials and murals depicting events of the time then and the 'You Are Now Entering Free Derry' sign and Yes the road you are standing on was the Bloody Sunday Road. Look for about 8 huge wall paintings and the museum. Look for the Local Shop there. It is in a Red steel container off a lorry. A nice time and pleasant people who just want to get on with their lives and not be branded for the past.

Room Tip: at the side overlooking the bogside and the higher up the better the view, day and night.

At the beginning of summer 2012 i spent a week at the tower hotel, overall my stay at the tower hotel was fantastic, great service, lovely food, brilliant entertainment, lovely hotel rooms also in a great location in the city, inside the historic Derry Walls. The only Hotel to be located inside them, the hotel is really clean and spotless and the rooms be left in perfection waiting for your arrival. There is a seperate bar in the hotel with televisions for all your entertainment, also there bees lots of great entertainment for the kids. I must say that i really enjoyed my stay at the tower hotel and i would recommend to anyone who is looking to anjoy a week/weekend in the city that is Derry.

I recently stayed at the Tower Hotel for a relaxing shopping break with my sister. The location of the tower hotel was fantastic, 2 minute walk from shopping centres. We booked a twin room which was basic although very clean and comfortable. The staff were very welcoming and helpful. Our meal in the restaurant was superb!! We will both return for some christmas shopping!
