“Brill stay”
Reviewed 23 December 2012

my son and I attended a live sessions night for up and coming artist who had recently been signed by Walled City Records. The Tower Hotel was the hotel that came up as closest to our venue. The Hotel on first appearance stood well above the surrounding buildings and with the christmas lights out on the streets looked very warm and welcoming. On entering the building this continued with the warm friendly greeting given to us by the staff on reception. They where very quick and efficient getting us checked in. We then went to our room No 213 on the second floor with two windows looking out to the front of the hotel. The room consisted of a twin bed and single bed. There was a large flat screened tv on the wall and a two seater seatee to watch it. A desk/dressing table, loads of wardrobe space. The room was spotless, beds felt like new, very comfy. Bathroom was large bright and very clean. The breakfast next morning was excellent lots of it and plenty of variety. Staff very welcoming and helpful. Nothing was too much bother. I will definitely be using this hotel again, it's location alone to all the shops, bus station, attractions and bars was another deciding factor. For £35 each for the night excellent value for money.

This hotel is more like a 3 star hotel. We stayed in 210 it was extremely noisy, I think the old double glazed windows were faulty. The room was dated and boring with the bare minimum supplied. The staff were polite but withdrawn. Although we found the town busy and all bars and restaurant bustling being the middle of December. We were surprised to come to the bar for a nightcap about 11pm to find the place empty. However the breakfast was brilliant, fresh, varied and very tasty.

Room Tip: Avoid 210 overlooking the front of the hotel

All I can say about the Tower is that it was functional at best and the location is good. I cannot see how it gets a four star rating when compared to hotels like the Europa in Belfast and the Westport Plaza. The staff, like the hotel, were very impersonal and seemed happy to do the bare minimum, an example of this would be in the bar where three bar staff would chat idly with each other rather than tidy or clear tables. When returning to the hotel you would be lucky to get a raised head from the reception staff. It was soul-less. The room I had suffered from street noise and passing late night revellers and furnishing wise it did not excite.

Stayed with my friends for a girls weekend and I am so impressed. The staff are so friendly and helpful from the front desk to cleaners, managers and barstaff. The breakfast was brilliant, so well laid out and presented really appetising and varied to suit all tastes. Fresh and plentifull and really the breakfast team were really helpful and efficient (Natalie and colleagues thanks great job).
We attended the Christmas party night and the food and service at such a big function was
excellant, the Manager was in top form and really ensuring guests were well looked after. the group (big 8 piece band, with smashing female lead) 'Portabello' were fab! really versatile and great at every tune they banged out, top drawer really.

The hotel rooms are being quietly refurbished improving the already great customer experience.

Well done Tower your are well situated within the city walls near to great pubs, shops and cultural experiences, you're well managed, great front of house team and I will definately be back with my friends to enjoy that experience again.

By the way the bed was so comfortable it felt new, like I was the only person that had ever slept in it. I slept so well as did my 3 friends we all had a fab experience.

Room Tip: No pool as such but worth mentioning the great sauna and gym.

.Stayed for one night on the 6/12/12. The rooms were up to four star standard easily and the evening meal in the restaurant was excellent. The barman and the waitress on the night were brilliant and good craic. Breakfast the next morning was very good and again the staff on duty were first class. Hard to fault his hotel with it's location and excellent staff.

This was the first time I had been to Derry and really enjoyed the hotel and the city. The hotels location inside the city walls made it an ideal spot. The car parking was handy but tests your parking skills. My room was very comfortable and was actually over looking the wall.
Breakfast had a great selection. Overall it was great value and I would stay again.
