No airconditioning ! we were on top floor and it was roasting.
No internet in the room - unless you pay
There was free internet in the lobby though - so bit of a pain as i didnt want to pay for internet after paying for my room.
room was basic enough, no mini bar, but the location is great.
Staff were very friendly too.
underground car park was tight enough but at least they had secure parking.

Thank you firstly for choosing to stay with us at the Tower Hotel, we in Ireland do not usually have a need for Air Con but we understand the recent "heatwave" took us all by surprise, it is something that we are now currently addressing in light of the recent rise in temperatures. We do offer complimentary WIFI in our lobby and Lyric Bar which most guests do avail of, we hope that you were able to make use of this. We are delighted you found our location great and staff friendly. We really hope that you will come back and visit us in the future

Kindest Regards

Booked this Hotels "Summer Loving Package" two nights Bed & Breakfast and one evening meal. It was a Sunday and Monday night.
We were delighted to find we had been upgraded to a suite, it was lovely and spotless clean, breakfast and dinner were very good and staff all polite and courteous.
Overall everything was superb and we were lucky enough to get a parking space too.
Thoroughly enjoyed our experience at the Tower Hotel and would not hesitate to return there

We stayed here 2 nights. Big mistake.
1. Probably because they had tour groups coming in (I was in the lobby when a Japanese one arrived), they gave us a room on the front, over one of the 4 roads leading to the central plaza. We were there on a weekend and therefore had to deal with party goers until the wee hours, not to mention the disco sounds from the adjacent disco bar to the hotel.
2. See the attached picture of the wood rot at the door jam, next to the bathroom tub. They use one of those swinging half glass doors to keep the water in the tub during a shower, obviously with less than satisfactory effect.
3. The biggest gripe we had was after touring the City Walls on a very hot day (yes, even in No. Ireland), we came back at 2:00 pm to find our room not made up. We advised the blond woman at the desk of the situation. She said they had tour people coming in and had to take care of them first (one nighters, whilst we were staying 2?). We returned again to our room at 4:00 pm. Room still not made up. Advised the same woman at the desk. She said she had alerted the staff, who were scheduled to go home at 5:00 pm, of the situation. Wasting our holiday in the lobby, we finally went up to the room at 5:20 pm to find it made up.

Room Tip: Get a room on the backside. Don't go on a weekend.

Very disappointing. First problem was that they messed up the booking and split us between two different floors. On rectifying the situation the following day, we initially were refused help in moving the luggage, but eventually, after a second request, we were informed a porter would be available within an hour. On entering the room, we discovered the carpet to be soaking wet outside of the bathroom. A closer look at the bathroom showed several broken floor tiles, which allowed the water to seep out into the bedroom area. One item which I feel should be in a hotel room is a small refrigerator. not available in the Tower Hotel. The electronic key system is very unreliable. Ourselves and many other guests had problems with these. The receptionist informed us that the keys were affected because of our mobile phones, (?). The rooms are designed for winter usage. Centrally heated, but murderous during hot weather. To try and cool down, we opened the windows only to be deafened by the traffic noise and curtains had to remain closed as our room was overlooked by the office block across the road. Installation of an electric fan and net curtains would be a tremendous benefit. To finalize, this hotel is definitely not worthy of four stars and is definitely off my list.
I and my family will be returning to Derry again. We thoroughly enjoyed the history and sites and found the Derry people to be very friendly and welcoming, but at a different hotel.
