The travelodge is very central and cheap that is about all i can say that is good about it. Place is very old and dated. Bathroom sinks cracked, bath dirty, shower curtain horrible.
windows dont open due to cages outside windows means room gets v. stuffy but cant even let air in. Sheets, carpets etc had stains. Not v clean wouldnt recommend stayin here.

Dear Leanne McElroy,

Thank you for your feedback regarding your stay with us at the Travelodge in Derry.

-We are in the process of updating the bathrooms in the Tavelodge.

-In regards to the windows with the cage at the side of them. Im sorry but this is out of the Hotels hands due the other business next to the Hotel making sure we had these put in.

-Im very shocked at this and surprised you did not report this to reception when you had noticed dirty sheets ect!!

Thanks again for your comments

Stayed in this hotel as we were unable to get any other availability for any other hotels in Derry for the weekend we went there and I have to say the room was very unclean - there was vomit/stains on the walls and carpet, the toilet moved when you sat on it and the room looked nothing like the pictures shown on the website which was very disappointing. We didn't pass any remarks as my then boyfriend didn't want me to complain, however for £75 room only it was very disappointing as our friends had booked the Tower hotel for cheaper that this and it was B&B. Would definatley not be back again no matter how bad we were to go to Derry. Derry is a brilliant city but this hotel should be struck off the list. I doubt that there was an inspection in the hotel since it opened because if any inspector called in there and looked at the room (well the one we stayed in) it would definatley be closed down.

Me and my boyfriend stayed in the Travelodge, Derry for a weekend (2 nights) in the middle of June 2011.

This hotel is a great location, very central to the town, cinema, shops, many bars and restaurants.

We were given a friendly greeting upon check in by the man in reception and were allocated our room on the 3rd floor. The double room, consisted of a double bed, a single bed, a large wardrobe, a bathroom and was of a generous size. The room itself was clean and tidy and could not be faulted.

The bathroom to be honest, could be doing with an upgrade. The water in the shower took a while to heat. The sink was covered in cracks, and took ages to drain..I think the plughole was blocked, I found a cigarette butt in the sink. The toilet had an unreliable flush also.

We went out for the day on the Saturday and came back to find the room had not been cleaned, they had left fresh towels etc outside the bedroom door but had not been in the room to take the dirty towels etc, We had an abundance of towels, toilet rolls and coffee sachets for the remainder of Saturday, cos they had not been in to see what we needed and what we didnt need!!

This is a nice hotel, but I feel I have to mark it down from a "very good" to an "average" due to the condition of the bathroom and the room not being maintaned on the Saturday. I think if these 2 issues were addressed then the hotel would be a lot better, and I would come back, however not at the moment.

To summarise, if you are just looking for somewhere to rest your head for a night or two, this hotel is ideal. However if you are looking a little bit more than that, then maybe try elsewhere.

The only thing good about this particular Travelodge was the location. I chose it becasue it was in Rick Steve's Ireland 2011 book. We did not expect luxury - the room was not pleasant - stained carpets, damaged sinks, poorly flushing toilet. The doors were so heavy that when someone entered a room the door would slam loudly. The thin walls & noisy patrons from the surrounding bars (this was a Sunday night!) made for a poor night's sleep. Also charging 21 pounds for parking & 7.50 pounds for a continental breakfast was absurd so we did not avail oursleves of either. We parked in a lot across the street which was free because it was Sunday & ate breakfast at a very nice bakery by the walls - their price for a full Irish breakfast was 4.50 pounds, for a continental breakfast - 3.50 punds!
So though the price appeared reasonable, when you factor in the parking, dilapidated room, & noise, this is no bargain.

Dear Sofia01,
Thank you for taking time to forward feedback in relation to your recent visit.
Having read your comment I'm sorry your stay with us was not as you expected.
Travelodge is a budget accommodation provider and sell rates on room only bases so extras like breakfast encores an additional charge. Even low our location is excellent we do have 2 car parking options one overnight which is chargeable and the other overnight which is free making this a choice for the individual customer.
A hotel refurbishment is already underway upgrading rooms and public areas hopefully if you extend us the opportunity you will see this on your next visit.
Regards,
Travelodge Management.

I booked a group of 10 rooms for a business weekend at a cost of £70 room only per night I was expecting things to be a little bit better.
Rooms are a bit dated, especially the bathrooms, tv was ancient, corridors extremely narrow, and the whole hotel was a bit cold, I just cant really think about anything positive to say about it.
The noise coming from the club downstairs certainly makes this place unsuitable if you want a quiet weekend, however this of course is beyond their control.
In this day and age charging someone £13 for internet is also a bit excessive, especially when we had just paid £1500 for our groups room only
My main issue was with the fire alarm, we were evacuated twice, once at 11.30 at night, which wasn't that pleasant, however again at 6.30am, a significant number of people evacuated to stand outside in the driving rain, not a member of staff in sight at the desk or anywhere in the corridors of entrance. After 15 minutes of people soaked, some in their PJ's I decided to re-enter the building to find a receptionist behind her desk with a cup of tea, when asked what was happening we were told it was just a fault. What a shame they didnt tell the wet residents standing in the street.
In summary this appears to be a place you would like if your sole aim was for somewhere to crash while in a drunken stupor. However if you intend to stay sober there would certainly be other choices of better accommodation in the City.
