“Noisy and time for refurbishment”
Reviewed 7 July 2012 via mobile

Nice staff aren't a big enough reason to stay at this establishment. Location may be great but noise pollution is a real issue here. Noise from night club late at night, bottle bank in the morning and rooms are in dire need of refurbishment. It does not compare favourably with other travelodges that we've stayed in.

Good Morning Throttletothebottle,

We appricate you taking time to review our hotel, Were sorry your stay wasn’t as it should have been and for that we appoligise.
All of our rooms are now undergoing referbishment to make our hotel more up-to-date and modern. We do take unboard all comments given but as for the Street noise this is out of our control due to us being a CIty Centre Location. We hope to show you a different side
to our hotel if you choose to visit Derry again

Regards

I stayed in the hotel last Sat night and I have to say everything was fine, room spacious, clean etc, after returning from a night out and looking forward to getting some sleep, we were kept awake til around 4am with the guests in the room above, so much so that they were jumping about that much the light shade on our ceiling came off and landed on top of us in the bed, after they eventually stopped jumping about and shouting we got to sleep only to be wakened again at 7am, we told reception in case they thought we broke the light, and they apologised. Derry is a beautiful city, this is the first time ive been and would love to return, but because of the reasons outlined above we won't be returning to the travelodge.

Room Tip: maybe a room at the back of the hotel would be best

This hotel is not cheap to stay in and therefore should be of a better standard. The hotel is on top of a bar that plays loud music and has smokers outside it until 4am which makes it impossible to sleep. It is also along a main road which makes it even worse. The rooms have furniture from the 70's and the shower is a trickle in a bath with a shower curtian. There is very old carpet on the floor and little or no ventilation...open the windows for loud noise!! This hotel needs an updated quickly to the standard of its sister hotels. Still the traditional keys for the doors which are gigantic.Hotel reception are fine, they have a difficult job in this very dated hotel.

Dear Genuine Judge,

Thank you for taking time to forward your feedback after your recent stay with us at Travelodge Derry. It appears that your stay wasn't as enjoyable as you had hoped.

Travelodge is ideally located in the City Centre and as a result we will from time to time have possible noise pollution from the main street below but this isn't normally an issue for us and I am sorry on your trip it was for you and your party.

Travelodge is currenlty undergoing refurbishments and this has not yet filtered through into all our bedrooms but this is a work in progress, which I hope you will see on your next visit to the Maiden city.

Kind regards,

Travelodge Management Team.

i stayed at this hotel for one night ,have to say i paid £49..And have to say for the money it was a good nights stay..
no thrills to this hotel but all i wanted was a place to stay for the night.
room was clean,bed was comfortable,
i wouldnt pay the extra for breakfast, when next door is a bar/restaurant that serves food all day for a low price,
bathroom was clean, this hotel does not supply shampoo eg.
tea and coffee are in room,,
have to say i would stay here again..
there is only one thing i didnt agree with and its that the hotel would like you to hand in your key everytime you leave the hotel,i didnt do this because i had things in my room, and leaving my key at reception was a BIG no for me..

Dear Colin D,

I would like to thank you for taking time to post a positive review of our hotel. We are delighted that you enjoyed your stay with us. Your comments in relation to leaving the key at reception is at the guests own discretion weather to leave it or not but we do advise it as a charge does apply if the key is lost while the guest is out of the hotel

We hope to welcome you back again on your next visit to Derry.

Location - although very close to city center, the noise levels were horrible and sleep was something that eluded us all night long. Also, the overall layout of the hotel meant it felt like we were in the middle of a gross hollywood horror movie and a corpse or soemthing would come out of no where... ladies at reception were as curt as possible and having paid the exact amount for a wonderful experience in Premier Inn in Belfast, we were shocked at this hotel. Very disaapointing rooms, bathrooms and hotel in general. not recommended unless you are desperate..

Dear Indian_Bawaji

Further to your comments relating to your recent stay with us, I would just like to apologise for the problem encountered relating to the street noise, unfortunately we have no control of this as we are a city centre location we could have tried moved you to a quiet room to the back of the hotel if you had brought this matter to the receptions attention.

I will take your comments onboard about our staff and the issues will be raised in our next customer service-training day.

If you would like to contact me directly I would be delighted to discuss this issue with you further

Thought we had entered a time machine, fawlty towers springs to mind, rooms were small and grubby, bathroom was disgusting, all decor 1970's style. Our room was located in the middle of a group of girls on a hen night, at least another 2 hen parties staying. wish we had taken photos to shar but we stayed 2 hrs and decided it was better to go home than to stay.
emailed travel lodge several times before we got a reply, eventuallly we were contacted by the manageress who was very apologetic and promised a refund, this was 6 weeks a go and still no refund! I guess its not coming now, I have e mailed the manageress again but no reply
worst hotel Ive ever being in & I have travelled all over the world. Be warned!!!!!!!

Room Tip: go to another hotel!
