“Comfortable hotel”
Reviewed 13 February 2009

We arrived in Derry late at night, and having driven around looking for a B&B were eventually directed to Da Vinci's hotel. The hotel was comfortable and clean, with very good service at the front desk. It was just what we needed for a good night's sleep after a busy day of sightseeing in beautiful Northern Ireland!

My agent recommended this property for a 2 night stay for a business trip while in Derry. I never stay in hotels lower than 4 star standard and was a bit hesitant.
The rooms and public areas were very modern, clean and comfortable; staff warm and attentive and food excellent.
I plan to come back later next month for a weekend with my partner and would definitely stay here.
Worthy of a higher rating in my opinion.

My wife and I stayed here for a wedding, the reception for which was also held at Da Vinci's. We were impressed by the room, which was clean, modern, well sized and comfortable. The reception meal was also very pleasant, and the staff were unfailingly helpful. My only (minor) gripe would be about breakfast, at which food and drinks seemed to be in short supply without anyone topping them up. However, I would not let this detract from my overall positive impression of the place.

I was part of a group of 9 who stayed in the Ramada da Vinci in December 2008. The staff there were very helpful, and unfortunately needed to be.

There was no TV remote in my room and an air vent fan in the bathroom was very loud (and did not automatically switch off with the light), so I visited reception. Their solution was to disconnect the vent and promise a TV remote for the next day.

The next morning, I highlighted to reception that the heating in the bathroom was not working, and the shower was tepid at best. Over breakfast I heard that 8 of the group of 9 had cold baths / showers.

As we left the hotel, a receptionist came running after us and asked a collegue and I to urgently vacate our rooms as considerable repairs were required. By the time I got back to my room the electricity was off in the bathroom.

That evening I was given the best suite in the hotel at no extra charge. Normally this should have been a great experience. However, there were a number of minor niggles which prevented me from enjoying it all.

Nothing that can't be fixed, but some attention is definitely needed.

  • Liked — The staff
  • Disliked — The condition of the rooms, particulary the lack of warm water

When driving though Ireland with no reservations.. it was such a live saver that this hotel had space for us. There were conferences in the area and it was extremely hard finding accomadation eleswhere. Service was very friendly and helpful.. The receptionist actually phoned other Ramadas for us to book in other areas on our trip and made reservations for us!! So nice!

Rooms were clean and comfy - small - but that's expected in a hotel room. The pub is incredible, authentically decorated and a great place to meet locals and other travellers. The restaurant is expensive.. but totally worth it. If you can afford to give yourself a treat - I recommend it. One of the best dining experiences of my life! Food was fantastic!

Located just off the downtown core. Walking access to the river and bus stops. Overall, I would say a pleasant experience to travellers so far from home.

We spent the weekend at Da Vinci's Hotel in Derry and I would thoroughly recommend it. The staff are extrememly helpful and welcoming and the facilites were great. We couldn't complain.

We stayed in a standard room and I was really impressed at how spacious and well equipped the room was considering the cost was so reasonable. Da Vinci's is just a short distance from the City Centre which is ideal for shopping trips or going out at night whilst avoiding the noise you often get whilst staying in City Centre hotels.

The food in the Grill room restaurant was delicious and the hotel bars were lively and inviting. On Friday night we had a few drinks in the more traditional bar and on Saturday we were up for something more lively and ventured into the Spirit bar - a modern nightclub type of bar.

We wouldn't hesitate to recommend Da Vinci's the rooms, bars, restaurant and staff were all first class.
