“Much Improved”
Reviewed 19 July 2014

I have been going to the Silverbirch since I was a child during holidays to Northern Ireland. I then moved here from England and whenever I visit my parents we all go to the Birches for a meal. Gone are the tobacco stained curtains and stale interior and poor food. The hotel has been revamped since the end of THE TROUBLES. The food has dramatically improved and exceptionally good. The staff are still the same friendly, polite and patient people as before. The interior has been gutted and totally restyled into a really pleasant venue for a bar snack to a full on Sunday meal. The place is always packed on a Sunday as the food is just so good. The Silverbirches is a must if visiting Omagh. My regular Sunday visit with my family .

Room Tip: Close to Omagh town about 20 minutes walk. Staff very helpful.

Lovely staff, who were friendly and helpful, the place was clean ... although when I wanted a latte for my morning coffee... I was told they didn't make them and I'd have to have a 'milky coffee' ... what was served in a tea pot... but was still enjoyable all the same, just unusual!

Room Tip: Rooms not near the road! ...

Attended the dining area for an early evening meal in a party of three. Ordered 2 x Rainforest chicken and a sirloin steak with wild mushroom sauce. Both chicken meals were overpowered by the amount of sauce. Conversely, the sirloin arrived without the sauce and by the time the sauce arrived the rest of the meal had cooled considerably. When ordering, we requested a jug of water for the table. we had to ask 3 further times before the jug arrived. A very disappointing visit to an hotel that has/had a high reputation locally.

Stayed one night during a business trip earlier this week. Easy to get to, lots of parking and very friendly and helpful staff. They made sure the football was on the TV for us when we enquired if it was showing - excellent! The room was very clean and pretty bright. I'd perhaps ask why there wasn't any privacy curtain since i was facing the car park!

Decided to have dinner in the bar as we were watching the football post-working. Menu itself looks a little old and dated but actually had great choice and we both had surprisingly delicious food! and lots of it! value for money and quality. delicious!

Would definitely stay here again when in the area! Breakfast also delicious and enjoyed the vegie grill option which was cooked to serve which is a nice touch!

Room Tip: i read others like a room facing the garden, but i slept well facing the car park mid week.

We stayed at the Silverbirch as my husband was taking part in the Tour of Omagh cycling race and we were certainly not disappointed. The hotel staff were all really friendly and helpful. The breakfast and dinner was lovely. The room we stayed in was clean and well presented. We enjoyed our stay and hope to stay again next year for the tour of Omagh 2015!! Thanks again.

We arrived at this Hotel after staying in Donegal for one night on our way home to Belfast.
We had booked the stay and dine package for one night only and thankfully it was only one night .
When we reached the reception desk the receptionist was very pleasant, and we were given our room number and ticket for" our free meal" to present to the dining room later that evening .
The room was clean and presentable with the usual tea ,coffee ,chocolate and biscuits and ironing facilities ,trouser press etc so far so good we thought apart from feeling we had been given a dinner ticket for a free school meal .
The residents menu was extremely basic pub grub standard fish and chips, beef with Yorkshire pudding, chicken goujons standard food which was nice but not what you would expect at all disappointing choice of food to say the least functional.
After our meal the waitress walked by six times without lifting our dessert plates, and when she did, she did not offer us any tea, so we left the dining room and went back to our room but unfortunately our night did not improve .The bed in the room was very uncomfortable and it was difficult to sleep in. There had also been a wedding in the Hotel which looked lovely, but guests were still departing at nearly four in the morning, so we heard every departure of taxi cab and its occupants .In the meantime a car alarm had gone off about three times preventing any sleep. It was a very disappointing visit, and one that we will not be repeating ever again. We did not even stay for breakfast and we could not wait to leave .My partner informed the reception staff that it had not been an enjoyable visit when asked by the receptionist, and he was told he did not have to pay for the one glass of wine and soda water and lime that we had purchased the night before Very Very Poor !!!!!!!!

Went for Sunday lunch with relatives visiting from Canada. Staff friendly enough but food not great. Husband and daughter said their pate had a weird texture and did not eat it. They are not at all fussy so it must have been bad. my soup was very greasy and the fat from the chicken stock had not been skimmed off which was a bit unappealing. The roast beef was very good though the Yorkshire pudding was woeful. My cousin's fish was totally full of bones which no self respecting chef should have allowed out of the kitchen. Desserts were fine. As we were all being treated by an elderly relative we did not make a scene though my cousin did discretely mention the bones. There are many other places in Northern Ireland where you could get a much better Sunday lunch for the same money. I'm guessing they feel they have a monopoly so don't have to try too hard.
