“Good food in a relaxing atmosphere”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 6 September 2013

The Atlantis restaurant is always worth a visit. The service was attentive and although there is a good menu, I always like to try the specials. I had the Crispy Poached egg on a bed of crisp streaky bacon and asparagus, my mouth is watering just thinking about it. It was perfectly cooked and presented. My wife had the excellent Cullen Skink. The accompanying bread was excellent and the main courses (battered fish & roast duck in a fruit sauce) were also to be commended. The wine was a tad pricey but few restaurants are cheap for good stuff nowadays. I do not understand the negative comment from Liseotte19, her review bears no resemblence to my experiences of the Atlantis.

Thank you for the lovely detailed review.

That asparagus special is quite tasty, one of my favourites as well. And the Cullen Skink…Classically delicious.

It is nice to know that the food we offer is so memorable.

Hope to see you back here soon, and thanks for backing us up over the unfortunate (and mysterious!) negative review.

“Fantastic”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 1 September 2013

Having read last reveiw I think they might have been dining in a different restaurant. We went there for our anniversary. Food was fantastic, staff were very efficient and attentive. My wife
was happy so job well done.

Thank you for the positive review

Yes we believe they were reviewing the wrong restaurant too!

But glad to see it didn’t put you off dining with us. Happy to hear that your anniversary celebration was all that it could be, we enjoyed having you.

“Terrible all round - avoid!”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 3 August 2013

We have been living in Aberdeen for over 13 years and have had our fair share of bad meals, this one beats them all!
We ordered pan fried sole, boiled new potatoes and veg of the season. I asked for salad in stead of potatoes and was told it came with a salad.
We were served frozen, not fresh fish with frost bites in sticky stale flour batter, not new potatoes, canned peas and carrots and the salad consisted of a slice of tomato and cucumber. Total meal price with a mid range bottle of red, £42. Sorry to say it was very poor and much too expensive.

Dear Liselotte 19,

We've reported this review to Tripadvisor, as I strongly suspect that this simply ain't us! ( Might it be another 'restaurant' on Great Western Road that begins with an 'A').

My suspicions aroused by... Battered Sole; Sole is not currently on our menu, so would be on as a special- we would NOT batter it (and never have-perhaps a breaded goujons as a starter now and again!) We would perhaps have it 'Brettone' with wild mushrooms & prawns, or perhaps with asparagus & artichoke hearts... we would never garnish with vegetables AND salad, and NEVER peas in the restaurant!!!!!

But the real kicker is that, I'm a little embarrassed to say, we're ''Nae That Cheap!

A mid-range red would be somewhere in the £25-30 region- our sole specials are usually around £17 for lemon or £20-25 for Dover... so even without pud or coffee you'd be looking at a £60 bill...

So-if you see this before it's taken down, perhaps you could rectify the situation. Then come and see us for some PROPER fish!

Thanks

“Great Restaurant!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 13 December 2012

I have dined in both the Atlantis Restaurant and The Cape Horn bar many times and never been disappointed. The food is always of top quality with good friendly staff. The Hogmanay meal is just superb, great value for money, The restaurant can be quite expensive, but they have set menu's if you want to go slightly cheaper. Bar meals are just as good and slightly less expensive. In my opinion, this is one of the best restaurants in Aberdeen!

“Christmas Meal”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 7 December 2012

Had a first class meal here yesterday, went with a colleague and two guests. A very good menu, lots of seafood. I hadf the tarragon and crab cheesecake for starters followed by moules and chips. Delicious. Finished off with coffee, not able for anything else. Going back on Sat night with relatives for a pre Christmas dinner.
