“A night in Aberdeen”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 5 August 2014

I was taking part in a 5km race in Aberdeen and needed somewhere to stay for the night. A friend recommend Micasa and I am so glad they did.
I contacted the Aprthotel a couple of times via email and always had a quick response.

Unfortunately there is no parking outside but the NCP car park is only a short walk away and they offer discount to Micasa customers (you are given a discount voucher from the Micasa reception on check out).

The receptionist was very pleasant on arrival and we sorted out our breakfast selection for the next morning.

Headed up to our room and was very surprised to find this was more than just a room. I know it's an aparthotel but even still, the room was huge. A livingroom / kitchen on the ground floor and then up the spiral stairs, was a nice sized double room and shower room / toilet.

We headed out to meet a friend for dinner but if we had needed to cook in the apartment, it had everything needed.

The only downside was that only the skylight opened so the apartment was quite warm. If I were to stay here again, the first thing I would do is open the skylight to cool the place down for sleeping, but this is a personal thing and not something I would mark the overall rating down on. I have marked the sleep quality down though simply because of the warmth in the rooms, but the bed was very comfy and on a cooler evening I'm sure I would have slept like a baby.

A nice central location in Aberdeen and if I am in the area again, I would stay here without a doubt!

One last thing - the main hallway when you get out of the lift is massive! Walking across it to get to the apartment door does make you wonder what this building was originally designed for - open planned office maybe? Really liked the artwork on the walls though.

Access from Market street, not very nice area. the views from your apartment window are not very scenic, apartment is nice and well fitted out, a continental breakfast is provided, room has milk/tea/coffee/sugar provided. Reception staff friendly and helpful.
Down side is the noise from the seagulls which is unbelievably loud and starts around 03.00 am and lasts for the rest of the day, they are vermin and you will be lucky not to be dropped on from above, the streets are covered in the mess and very unhygienic. The area stinks of rotting fish, it turns your stomach. There is also the noise from the local bars emptying their bottles early morning, another wake up call.

Room Tip: Avoid staying in the city centre if you want a decent nights sleep.

It's generally hard to find good value places to stay in Aberdeen but the Micaso hotel ticks all the boxes. Four of us stayed a night for my daughters graduation. The apartment was situated in the centre of the city.M&S over the road if you want something urgently. Rooms were spacious and clean. Space to spread out away from the bedrooms as there is a living area with kitchen etc . Breakfast is ordered and delivered to your door the next morning. Parking is dear in the city but you can get a discount through the hotel. We would stay again and recommend.

Checkin:
> Even arriving at midnight the reception was waiting for us, and everything was quick and efficient

Rooms:
> We had room 1, which a great layout for our family, with large bathroom and bedroom with 2 single beds, and master with ensuite. The lounge and kitchen area are large and spacious.
> This room is right off the reception and on the main street. I was a little worried about the noise, but the double window, can not hear anything.

Bathroom:
> the ensuite shower cubicle has glass doors and the space is not huge for tall people, but the water pressure is good and hot, so not an issue.
. Plenty of towels, all in good condition.

Wi-Fi:
> Speed was fine for what we needed it for, and no issues on drop out.

Location:
> Right in the heart of town. Surrounded by lots of pubs and bars, all going to well into the night, but as mentioned you can not hear any of this.
> Walking distance to the main mall, and there is a 24hr mini-shop just down the street 100m

Stayed here for one night stop over midweek in February. Aberdeen is more expensive than London so value for money it is not however other than the cost no real complaints.
Apartment 23 was quiet two bed-roomed apartment and we a good night sleep. It was clean although some of the maintenance repairs in the bathroom had been poorly finished. Breakfast is economy delivered to your door like a packed lunch. Staff were friendly and overall it did the job. I have stayed in better for less but would be happy to use Micasa again.

Room Tip: Apt 23 was at the rear of the building, I would think those overlooking Market Street may be more li...

After a short drive by taxi from the airport we arrived to see that this apartment hotel was situated right in the center of the city, with fantastic access in all directions. The reception was friendly and helpful and we were able to get duplicate keys and cards for all of those in our party, which was very convenient for us.

We stayed in Room 15, which was a 2 floor, one bath, two bedroom apartment. The bedrooms were just lovely, airy and clean and spacious. Our bathroom was equipped with a bathtub and shower. On the first floor we had a full kitchen, dishwasher and clothes washer/dryer. There was also a small sitting area with one 2 seat sofa and 1 sofa chair.

The breakfast delivered to your doorstep is very simple, but definitely convenient if you're in a rush and just want to get out the door.

Just a few issues:

-It would have been nice to know beforehand that our room would be on two levels. The staircase was incredibly narrow and steep, and some people in our party struggled getting up and down them. Since it was a short stay we managed, but others may want to check before booking a room.

-The fan in the bathroom makes an amazing amount of racket. I have no idea if it's broken, or needs to be replaced, but it was very annoying!

Otherwise no complaints, and would definitely stay here again!
