We did not stay at the Hotel, only went to the Lounge for dinner.
We had previously been when it was run by Paula McEwan. The decor is excellent, a really nice room to eat in. Comfortable and also private with good table spacing. Menu was a good size with a few specials, a set Christmas menu, and the standard dinner menu. There was a separate wine list that was reasonable, and not over-priced. Starters c. £6, Mains c. £16, Wine £20/bottle.
Menu consisted of Monkfish in bacon, Sea Bass with risotto, Salmon, Port fillet, veg lasagne and a few others. Also there are a couple of steak choices. Also - a very good range of desserts.
Service was excellent. Cannot fault it.
Food was hot, tasty and portion sizes good.
All in all, a very enjoyable visit, and there is no doubt we will return.
Now - it is true that there is a sports bar in an adjoining room. We went on a night where there was live football being shown, and we could hear nothing. There was no disruption at all - so do not let reviews that say this is a problem put you off.
