“Family Affair”
Reviewed 13 July 2013

We booked a total of 12 people into five rooms for a family celebration. The initial booking was face to face but all the final arrangements were made by email or phone. The deal was for the rooms and a meal for all in the library. One daughter has 3 children and was allocated adjoining rooms, while another was provided with a cot for her 10 month old child. Booking in proved effortless with all the reception staff aware of our booking. All the rooms were clean and tidy and the bathrooms recently upgraded with splendid showers.
On arriving at the library for our meal we were welcomed with complementary glasses of champagne provided by the owner. Although there were 12 of us of wide ranging tasted everyone enjoyed a delicious freshly prepared meal while the wine waiter kept our glasses topped up.
Breakfast was hardly needed next day but those who had the full breakfast thoroughly enjoyed it!The staff were courteous and professional at all times and we would not hesitate to recommend or use the hotel in the future.

A very pleasant hotel, close to airport and not too far from Aberdeen..
Breakfast included in room price and very good cold buffet and a la carte hot food
Very helpful front desk staff and most of the breakfast restaurant staff.
Bar very pleasant and a great place to relax after a hard day of sightseeing.
Rooms compact but very comfortable.
Bowling club across the road a very handy place for a drink.
Will recommend to everyone going to that part of Scotland as a base hotel.

Poor service in the restaurant, coupled with cramped room. Food was expensive even for Aberdeen. Poor service continued into the bar with waits of 10 mins for staff to turn up.
The hotel is close to the flight path of Aberdeen Airport and can be noisy from early on. Better available

Often overlooked as a transit hotel for middle management heading offshore, this hotel has a comfortable bar area and a decent restuarant, bistro booth style. The sports on the TV in the bar loses it a star as it so intrusive,

The steaks are spectacular and worth a special visit, ask for the chefs 'special' onion rings!

It's not fine dining, but who cares, it tastes great and the staff are helpful and engaging.

Give it a go.

Very exspensive considering wifi is not included in the price. Considering almost all hotels have free wifi these days this hotel is behind the times - sort it out. The food is good and service is average to below par with similar priced venues (ordered a risotto which turned up cold and a beer had more floaters in than the London docks) . TV was a very small affair where the reception became "iffy" everytime a plane flew over (which is a lot).

There are better hotels for the money in the area and with the new hotels being built by the airport - the Craighaar will need to do a lot better.

PROS - good food
CONS - poor service/unhappy staff/language barrier (not talking acsent), wifi not free, poor TV, check the beer is clean!

Stayed for just one night on business after a gap of 2 years. Good location close to airport and Dyce businesses. Clean comfortable rooms which have been refurbished. Only problem was that
Aberdeen was enjoying an unusually warm day so that my room was uncomfortably hot as the central heating was still on. Opened window to get some air into the room....big mistake as immediately above front door so was woken by early departures at 0530hrs.
Restaurant had very extensive menu for dinner and the portions were huge. Thus little room to enjoy the extensive breakfast offering.

Room Tip: Chose a room at rear of property to avoid noise of vehicles in car park at front
