Stayed here on Sunday night before travelling back to England on National Express Coach. I had a room at the front overlooking Union Square there was a comfy bed plenty of pillows good sized flat screen tv and a large bathroom. The usual tea and coffee making facilities and a fridge. It was a two minute walk to the coach station and although I needed to be there at 7 am was able to have breakfast first as they serve from 4.30 on weekday mornings

Location is perfect for carless travellers, as its directly over the road from the railway and bus stations that gives it its name.
Convenient for city centre attractions, harbour, ferries and the excellent Union Square leisure development.

Parking area is small, first come first served and free for residents

Booking in was fast and fuss free.

Room was compact, with a view of a wall and part of a roof.
Everything's there and clean.
Kettle lid was damaged but was still functional.
Unbranded coffee for drinks was a disappointment for the room price, hot chocolate a bonus.
Milk for drinks was hiding in a mini bar, along with cartons of juice and bottled water, though the mini bar didn''t seem to be plugged in, just used as a storage cupboard, it certainly was no colder than the room.

Paper on ceiling starting to sag by the window.
Sash window cord was broken, but it opened with a little encouragement.
TV wasn't initially working, but approximately fifteen minutes after a call to reception, a staff member cheerfully came up to reset it and got it working properly. Third night, able to fix this myself again having watched carefully how to the first time..

Hotel Wifi slow and flaky, but its free.
Advice to management, change the password frequently, to stop passers by using it too!

As noted in another review, the room door appeared to have been replaced, with old lock furniture and cracking around the frame left in place, instead of being filled and painted over.
New modern card entry with deadbolt seems strong enough to relax behind in comfort

Shower reassuringly comes with one power setting, somewhere between skin flaying and industrial jetwash. Pointing the shower head at the wall and showering in the back-spray proved to be a gentle relaxing experience.
Temperatures from "Ice" to "Can make tea with this" were easily achievable with the adjustment provided.

Amusement was provided by the "lets re-hang the shower cubicle door panel" game, everytime I moved in the shower, the door detatched itself and joined me in the spray.

Housekeeping good, everything reset and back where it should be each day.

My general impression is that its a clean functional place, OK for work purposes, missing little details and glamorous touches, with occasional hints of a grander past.

No objections to staying there again, but for work, not a weekend break

I really liked the painted instructions on a number of the doors in the hotel. They must have been 100 years old, but some effort has been made to make it nice which I appreciated. The bathroom was new and so were the reception areas so my only complaint was that it was a it expensive, but that's Aberdeen. Also it is so handy. You can get an bus from the airport for £2.70 which stops just across the road. It would cost £20 in a taxi. Also it is five minutes from Union Street and two minutes from Union Square, and within sight of the end of Aberdeen Harbour.

Very nice and fresh décor. Central location for 1 or more nights stay, easy access to shops and pubs. Opposite small shopping mall if that is your thing.
Hotel: Rooms need updating a little, not sound proofed from road and surrounding street noise, but that's what you get in a city location.
Staff: Very pleasant and very willing to accommodate.
I would recommend this hotel with a scale of 9 out of 10.

Room Tip: I stayed in 330 large double room on the 3rd floor, but noisy at the back of the hotel. Not sure abo...

I Had a high tea on Friday 14 February. The price is now £7.50 (up£1) - that on its own would not be too bad, but the small cakes (and I really mean small) have been reduced in number.
should you now wish to have ice cream - then you must pay an extra £1 for the pleasure.
Not so good now - and I will not be going back.

I stayed at the Station hotel over new year's and thought the hotel was good value for money. The room was spacious, the building was charming and full of character and the bar area cozy. The location was excellent -within easy walking distance of shopping, dining and clubbing- and the hotel even has a big parking space so we had no problem parking the rental car we got for two days. I'd definetly stay there again.
