“First Class.”
Reviewed 29 April 2013

My wife and I, along with our 7week old daughter and 18month old son, have just stayed at The Caledonian this weekend to celebrate my 40th birthday.
I had done a lot of research on other hotels in the city and decided on The Caledonian following a recommendation from a friend tat lives in Aberdeen.
As it was my birthday we booked Room 418, The Wallace Suite. Fantastic! There is a small flight of stairs from the lift to get to the 4th floor, which was a little annoying when we had the pram, but bearing in mind the age of the building it was absolutely trivial in the grander scheme of things.
The views from the room surely cannot be surpassed anywhere else in Aberdeen and we were greeted with complimentary fruit and chocolates as it was my birthday.
The Reception staff could not have been anymore helpful and as our return flight home was in the evening they allowed us to store our shopping in their luggage store after checking out on our last day.
Full English Breakfast was perfect, no problem at all with the hot water(unlike other reviewers), hotel decor was perfect and the location is undoubtedly the best for city centre shopping with no external noise at all.
This is now our Aberdeen residence and we can't wait to go back !!

This was our third stay at this hotel will deffo be back :) lovely hotel with excellent service from all the staff. The staff are brilliant at this hotel and go out of their way to make sure you are happy with everything. We stayed for two nights as it was my hubbys birthday,I called in advance and requested room 118 as we love this room, delighted to get it on arrival.Unfortunatley there was a problem with the door not locking,we had to leave them dealing with it to go to Emeli Sande concert. We were not happy with our change of room, but the next day we got moved to a suite and got a free drink and breakfast, which was lovely :) Brilliant staff and hotel.

I got a booking for this hotel as a last minute deal and for the price paid (£89, for 2 adults B&B) I really did not expect very much...oh how wrong I was.

The hotel is an oasis of calm and the atmosphere is friendly, efficient and welcoming.

Our room was very spacious, well eqipped, quiet, comfortable and spotlessly clean. Decor throughout was contemporary and fresh lending a nice sense of space. There is a free car park at the rear of the hotel.

Food- excellent! The breakfast was of good quality and although served buffet style you can request other items be freshly prepared...which I did and they were delicious.

The staff are so friendly and helpful that you feel like a returning friend rather than just another traveller. And they show a level of care that is very refreshing.

Our room overlooked Union Gardens and at first I thought street noise might be a problem....but no, the heavy duty drapes and well maintainned windows meant you could admire the view and still get a good nights rest. The beds were comfortable...good quality linens, the shower was outstanding (great pressure) and the towels were suitably fluffy.

We both felt refreshed and pampered and wished we could have extended our stay.....we will be back at the Caledonian

I Had a good stay in this hotel.
I stayed in a single room on the 3rd floor. Room was clean, spacious enough for a single room and had a comfy bed and a reasonable size TV. There was no view from the window other than the neighbouring building and fire escape.
As I stayed on a weekend I got a very good rate and was actually cheaper than the Travelodge and the rooms in the Caledonian are much better.
Excellent location just off union street. The staff were friendly and if im back in Aberdeen for a night out would'nt hesitate to stay here again.

Just had another amazing night at the Caledonian! This place is the best location in Aberdeen. We normally have a night out in Aberdeen every 6 - 8 weeks and have chosen to stay here for the past 10 years normally in a suite. This time we booked a deluxe double and were upgraded to a suite. The rooms are great and the hotel is right in the centre of Aberdeen. We have always found the staff to be very helpful and friendly. We haven't eaten in the restaurant in the evening but have heard good reviews. Breakfast is excellent!

Thanks again Calley and see you next month!

Room Tip: Deluxe double and suites at front have great views of the terrace gardens. Terrace suite is lovely.

Had a fantastic night in this hotel. I booked a suite because it was our anniversary and wasn't disappointed! We arrived back to our room to find two glasses of sparkling wine and fruit and chocolates which was a lovely surprise. I would definitely recommend this hotel. The staff were really friendly and helpful.
