My husband and I stayed for one night on Friday 21st February. We could not recommend this hotel more highly. The location is so handy for the centre of town with a rare car park. The price of the room would be hard to beat for a city centre hotel. The room had been recently refurbished and was very comfortable and clean. The staff were very friendly and helpful, especially the Russian trainee waiter at breakfast who gave me a free cup of coffee after we had checked out while we were reading the complimentary newspapers. Breakfast was also delicious. 10/10 for this hotel. We will definitely be back!

Dear Frances F,

Thank you so much for taking the time out to write such a wonderful review.

We pride ourselves on providing the best customer service we can and i am delighted that even as a trainee Ruslan exceeded your expectations as a customer providing you with a complimentary coffee while you waited. It really is great to hear.

I am glad you enjoyed all aspects of your stay and noticed that we are the only city centre hotel that still offers free parking to our guests especially good when you can get a room at a great weekend rate and then save yourself £10-£20 on weekend parking.

We look forward to having you back.

Kind Regards

Got a good rate for the room on Trivago as only there for one night. Great location in city centre and the staff I had contact with were very helpful and friendly. The room though has some issues especially the bathroom. 2 cracked and loose tiles on floor and the shower head would not stop dripping once I used it. Room was at the back and I guess with earplugs provided we should have known that noise was going to be heard and from early morning various delivery trucks came and went.
The loose tiles really are an accident waiting to happen though for which there is no excuse.
Doubtful if we would use again.

Dear Elliot G,

Thank you for your recent review. I am glad that you echoed the many previous reviews of our staff being friendly and helpful.

I apologise that the room was not to your liking, we have our maintenance team looking in to the issues you experienced as a matter of urgency.

With regards to the noise from trucks, unfortunately being in the heart of the city this is completely outwith our control. We do provide ear plugs for your convenience if this becomes an issue.

Here for business in late Jan - have stayed previously but seemingly was worse than before. Service at the hotel was very poor - had booked a room through a travel provider yet they tried to charge all of us. Room was cheap though in that booking however no breakfast was included. Still went down for breakfast the morning and was told it was £15 unless we had a voucher which reception should have given us on checking in (which they didn't).
Room - basic, but positive in that there was free wifi in the hotel. Location of the hotel is central which is perfect and is cheap in an expensive city. Location meant the potential for it to be noisy which was obvious in the fact the room has earplugs provided just in case (not exactly what you want to be greeted with when arriving in your room!).
Checkout was a hectic nightmare and took over 10 minutes due to printers failing, lots of confusing questioning in relation to pre-payment of travel provider...
Overall would use again but only because of its location, price and free wifi.

Dear Ollie P,

Thank you for your recent review.

I apologise that you felt your booking was not dealt with correctly at check-in however after some investigation I would like you to know that the fault unfortunately was not at our end and the travel booker had neglected to provide the details we required. Regarding your check out I would also apologise for our printers failing, a hectic nightmare I may have to disagree with being slightly exagerated as I am sure you are aware that sometimes technology does maulfunction through no fault of our own. As you can see from the other reviews, our service is something we pride ourselves on and rarely recieve comments regarding it being 'very poor'.

With being a city centre hotel, especially one which is listed and has original sash windows in a number of the rooms we provide ear plugs in our rooms for our guests convenience.

Finally regarding your breakfast, breakfast is charged at £14.95 if you choose to dine on the day. Reception do not issue vouchers on check in to entitle you to free breakfast however they can sell you voucher for a reduced rate breakfast the evening before. I hope this clears up some confusion.

I am pleased these issues would not deter you from staying with us again. If you plan to book again may I suggest booking directly through thistle.com as this is always guaranteed to be the cheapest method of booking and also guarantees a hassle free check in.

Kind Regards

Stayed in the hotel for one week, it has a good restaurant and the internet is great!
The room was small, but probably they have bigger ones if you are keen to pay, the localization cant be better, just in the city center.

Good enough bed for the night. Room clean and adequately equipped. Reception staff pleasant. Didn't try breakfast as expensive and other options nearby. Location excellent - close to station, buses and Union Street. Good value in an expensive city.

Wouldn't pay the 'full price', however managed to get a good deal with an online booking company and it was well worth the money. The room was huge, clean and quite luxurious. The standards are pretty high I would say and of course it is absolutely central in Aberdeen so close to shops, restaurants, everything really! All in all, we enjoyed our night there.

We stayed for 2 nights as the central location is excellent, as is the small car park. However we arrived tired and laden with luggage, carried our suitcases up the outside steps into reception and were offered no help with our cases. We were in an executive room and even when you came out of the lift there were more stairs and fire doors to negotiate. The room was okay, but had one set of towels and one bathrobe for a double!!! Despite asking reception more towels did not appear and there just seems to be a casual attitude to guests. Will not go back.

Dear Justonemoreholiday,

Thank you for your honest feedback on your recent stay. I'm sure as you can see from the below reviews this is certainly not the way we treat our guests.

I apologise that no one offered assistance with your luggage however as you arrived via the main front entrance unless someone is positioned at the front doors it is very tricky to see people carrying luggage up the stairs. We are however always more than happy to help our guests in any way and should you have asked one of the team would have been happy to do this for you.

With regards to the stairs and fire doors, as a 121 year old listed property we do have a number of 'quirks' which unfortunately we cannot change but we definitely see these are charm and character however I am sorry that these incovenienced you. I will definitely be using this as an example to ensure the team are more proactive in asking if our guests require any assistance as this should, as a standard, be offered during check in.

With regards to the towels I can only apolgise and will be taking this up as a matter of urgency with the housekeeping team.

If you are ever in Aberdeen again and wish to give us a second chance please do not hesitate to contact myself directly and I will be happy to deal with your booking.

Kind Regards
