“Faded, badly in need of investment.”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 21 August 2011

Looks and sounds great in the brochure.

Car park spacious.

Entrance is through the gift shop. Admission Fees reasonable enough, but having to pay extra to use credit card is nonsense. You also have to buy a map of the park, this should obviously be included in the admission price.

Walking around the Glen, the vast majority of the characters are looking very much the worse for wear. Most need a good clean and repaint, many of the little houses are in very poor shape with the wooden structures literally falling apart.
The areas around the characters are also very overgrown and many of the streams/ponds are stagnant.

The main playground area in the center of the Glen is in good order and safe for the kids

Some work has been done recently, but overall the impression is one of decay and neglect.

The 'animals' comprise a total of 1 cow, 1 goat, 1 pig, 1 rabbit and a couple of chickens. Pretty feeble and again the houses, pens etc are in very poor shape.

Overall my 5 and 7 yr olds thought it was ok, but it could and should be so much better. I would imagine that it was so in the past when properly maintained.

No comment on the restaurant as having been round the rest if the area, I didn't want to chance it.

“Disappointing, neglected”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 13 August 2011

Visited today with my children 8,4 and my niece 3. As we made our way down the path my niece tripped on a huge hole in the path. The majority of the characters are needing painted, although postman pat seems to have been lucky having a "wet paint" sign round him! Unfriendly staff, not good value for money. In need of lots of tlc and modernisation.

“Disaster Waiting to happen”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 12 August 2011

This park has potential if someone spends money. Its run down.
Paint the models, Fix the broken stone steps at the shute. Damaged paths. Hazards abound for young children. They even had someone driving round the grass cutting it only feet away from playing children. Health and Saftey MUST take an interest in this before a young child gets injured.
Having said that no doubt the children had a good time but the adults see the dangers.

“A super day out”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 10 August 2011

Took my two young grandchildren ages 4 and 2 for day out to Storybook Glen. Was sceptical due to negative reviews but they were unfounded and false. Beautiful setting with large walk about area for kids to discover various characters, which they loved. The cafe with seating and play area is excellent. Storybook glen is a very safe and fun place for children. A minimal amount of characters are in need of updating but majority are well kept. A super day out for kids and excellent value. Spent 3/1/2 hours there but could easily have stayed longer.
