“Friendly but overpriced”
Reviewed 23 July 2012

Friendly staff and a central location, but way too expensive, especially on days when North Sea oil workers come into town (the price seemed to double on Thursdays). Reasonable bed comfort, a classic British long bath tub, no wash cloths of course (like any other British hotel), and the parking situation was awful--it's free, but way overcrowded, causing guests to fit their vehicles wherever they can. Food was okay, with some creative choices such as pizza with marmalade as one of the toppings--actually tasted quite good. A generous breakfast, but it's not included in the room rate. Internet access for 3 pounds every 24 hours is a lot cheaper than many hotels in the area. Overall, though, a B&B would have suited me better--but most were completely booked up in July.

Room Tip: If you want to sleep in at all, try to avoid rooms adjacent to fire doors in the hall, which bang cl...

Stayed here for a week for my son's Graduation at King's College and also to visit with old friends.

The hotel is very conveniently located within 5 minutes walking distance of Union Street. The rooms are slightly larger than other Premier Inns I have stayed in, the beds were comfy and the room was spacious and clean. However, our room was on the road side of the building which was a little bit noisy at times, not to mention the roadworks that were going on during our stay. The room was a little stuffy at night and we weren't able to leave a window open because of the traffic noise, and I can imagine it could be quite uncomfortable during the summer months.

The restaurant at the hotel was good. We didn't have an evening meal there, but we did have the cooked breakfast which was of a reasonable standard and good value for money. Breakfast is either continental or a cooked buffet, and some items are cooked to order. A special mention must go to the breakfast waiter, Charles, who was a delight, always cheery and mannerable no matter what time of the morning we appeared!

The reception staff were polite and very helpful and our rooms were cleaned every day to a high standard.

Would I stay here again? Yes - it's ideal if you want to a comfortable base close to town for which you won't have to pay a fortune. I'll definitely be back.

Dear Guest,

Thank you for your comments on your stay with us. May I offer your son the congratulations of all of us here at Aberdeen City Centre on gaining his degree. I am sure that it was a very special day for all of the family.

I can assure you that Charles was delighted to read that you had enjoyed his unique brand of morning hospitality. Charles has been part of the team at the Premier Inn Aberdeen City Centre for many years and is well known and loved by regular guests at the hotel.

It is unfortunate that the roadwork's were ongoing during your stay with us. These were works that were deemed essential by the city council and are beyond our control.

We look forward to seeing you again in the future.

Kind regards,

Alan Stewart

I have stayed here on several occasions on business over the last two years.

It is quite different from the usual "purpose built" Premier Inns as it was once a higher quality hotel which has been bought by Whitbread at some point and turned in to a Premier Inn.

This is definitely a plus - the rooms are that little bit bigger than the new-build examples of the chain, as are the en-suites. Location is reasonable - walk to most of the big shops in 5 minutes or so - a little further to the bus and train stations, but easily manageable.

Very clean room and en-suite, minimally interactive staff, but that's fine by me - everything was clear to see and worked well, so there was no need to contact anyone about anything.

Perhaps the biggest reason for staying here is so that you don't have to go anywhere near the diabolical Travelodge at the corner of Union St / Bridge St - see reviews if you want to get the idea - it is much closer to the bus & train station, but is a hospitality disaster.
For pretty much the same money, you can be here in a much more comfortable and infinitely cleaner and quieter room.

Breakfast was the normal Premier Inn affair - a straight average.
Evening meal (I had one) was actually not bad - slightly above average for a Premier Inn.

If you want budget and you want City Centre, this is pretty much the top of the list at the time of writing. You can do better, but you'll need to spend £30-50 per night more to do so.

It is always really motivating for the team to read positive reviews about the standard of our hotel and the customer service of our team members. We take pride in acheiving high standards to ensure our guests have the care and attention they deserve and it was great to hear that this was not your first visit with us.
Whitbread did indeed take over the building eight years ago and changed it to Premier Inn and although we do not have the standard size bedrooms our guests do appreciate that we maintain the first class service expected of the hotel chain.
Thanks again and we look forward to seeing you on your next visit.

Normal Premier Inn standards. Good food, pleasent surroundings, but the segulls keep you awake at night, very loud and dive bomb your cars and YOU !!

We were pleased to hear that you found Aberdeen City Centre Premier Inn to the usual high standards we strive to achieve. I do apoligise for the noise of the seagulls but because of the bad weather conditions we have experienced of late they tend to come onshore and congregrate on the buildings close to the beach and scream loudly. Each year we do hire a hawk to scare them off our building and it works well but they move to the buildings surrounding us.
I hope this does not deter you from returning to our Premier Inn as we would to welcome you back.

Thank you again

We stayed in this hotel for 2 nights as a family. When we arrived in the room we discovered that the single beds were makeshift on the floor. We called up room service and they put in a camp bed but it still wasn't suitable. We spent half an hour fixing up a decent bed. Our next thought was that the room was very dull and nowhere near the standard of the other Premier Inns we have stayed in. Our sleep on the first night was ruined by a drunk man locked out of his room. This obviously wasn't the hotel's fault but, as mentioned in previous reviews, there are some dodgy characters. However, the bar/breakfast area is a lot better than the rest of the hotel.

So, despite friendly service and decent food/drink, this hotel did not live up to our expectations and it is by far the worst Premier Inn we have stayed in.

Thank you for your feedback regarding your stay at our Premier Inn. I was disappointed that you experienced some problems during your visit.
I would appreciate it if you could give me a call at the hotel so I can apoligise in person and try and restore your faith in us and Premier Inn hotels.

Chose hotel for proximity to University. 2 rooms both very clean and comfortable. Staff very friendly and helpful. Good food in restaurant. Service with a smile! Only downside was noise from seagulls throughout the night, which really couldn't be helped by the hotel. Bring ear plugs! overall good experience.

Congratulations to your son on his graduation and we wish him well in his chosen career.
Thank you for your feedback regarding your stay at Aberdeen City Centre Premier Inn.
It was a busy week for us all and we were so pleased that everything went well and you enjoyed your stay at the hotel and your visit to Aberdeen.
We apoligise for the seagulls and as you say it is outwith our control. The wet, foggy weather brings them onshore and as we are so close to the sea they congregate on the buildings in the area and give their early morning call to all around which is not a pretty sound. Each year we hire a hawk to scare them off our building but it only moves them to surrounding buildings.
We look forward to welcoming you back to Aberdeen on your next visit.

Thanks again
