“Very nice indeed!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 22 September 2012

Without question the best place I have stayed in Aberdeen. A very Malmaison experience which lends itself to the city and the architecture of the building as well.

The interior is superbly designed and laid out.

Excellent Malmaison service here, each and every single member of staff was brilliant.

Excellent bar, drinks menu and Bar Manager who keeps your glass full without having to ask even in busy times. Naturally he knows his drinks too.

Far-reaching bar menu with some clever mixes.

Rooms are the “Mal” brand lush darkness with super comfortable beds.

Some really nice touches in the interior design of the hotel, big glass sections of floor working with the granite and the wine cellar below.

Check their prices before booking anywhere else in Aberdeen as sometimes the full Mal experience is a ten pounds cheaper than the plain chain hotel down the road.
It is an amazing hotel….and I doubt that it will be beaten for quality in Aberdeen.

Brilliant staff.

My first time to this hotel and I have nothing but good things to say. Very friendily, excellent service and always asking if they can help. The restaurant is the best place to eat, with a great bar for before and after drinks. very lively and friendly. i borrowed an umbrella and they never asked me for my room number or anything, just stay dry. i would reccomend this hotel to everyone

Room Tip: i had a room on the -1 floor next to a walking path. Occasionally i would hear people out side walk...

Hotel is very nice, rooms were good too. Seemed pretty clean also. Back massage was great too.

My issues were three things. Firstly, as part of the girls pampering package night, we got munchies served to the room that were described as substantial. I would agree with that for the meat eaters, but what I was given as a vegetarian was ridiculous. Basically a ketchup sized dish of pasta (4 bits!) and 3 shot glass sized containers with different lettuce leaves. Given we were there to celebrate my recent marriage, and my friend had made it clear I would require a decent vegetarian option, I found this rather rude.

Secondly, we used the restaurant at night for a light snack (given I was entering starvation mode) and also for breakfast and the service was slower than I think I have ever experienced before. A few of my friends who have been before commented that this was always the case. Having been there for a xmas meal last year I can also say I've yet to have a good experience there.

Third and final point. I like the colour scheme etc but the lighting in the rooms is so bad that ladies have great difficulty getting ready for a night out given you cant see enought to apply makeup. Even in the bathroom.

The hotel did have good points but given the points above I wouldnt rush back.

Had a lovely stay at this hotel at a bargain price too! Breakfast was good and supper was excellent! Room was really nice, very clean too. Large car park out the back. Shame the hotel wasn't in a more central location, but fine for relaxing break.

Stayed here for 2 nights on a business trip. The room was lovely and large although I understand that some of the rooms in the old building are small. Huge, comfortable bed and equipped with everything you could possibly need including generous sized shampoo, conditioner and shower gel etc. Check in was friendly, fast and efficient. On the first night we ate in the restaurant which was great with a good choice and small tables along the side if you are dining alone. The bar is fantastic with an opulent feel and a great range of drinks. My only criticism is the rainshower which looks stunning but is completely impractical if you are trying to wash your hair as you can not get out of the spray in order to lather up! Going back next week and looking forward to it!
