Location is exceptional. Staff very helpful with tourist information and helped us organise a magical tour of Scotland.Try the castle tour and fottie near Aberdeen; If you have time travel a bit further to the West coast - amazing. Lovely bedroom and we all thought the restaurant was brilliant.

I used to like staying here, but this trip my room lacked a bedside table, and although the receptionists tried hard to sort it out they couldn't find any spares. My email to management got no response until after I had left, and even then the response was very unprofessional and not even signed with a name or position, as if they didn't really want to take any responsibility. I would not stay there again, just for that reason.

Also my room had no coat hangers, or sink plug, and the service at breakfast was very rude.

Also, they advertise prices as a max of £85 per night, inc vat and breakfast, when I paid around £115 through booking.com. I asked them why by email, and I got no reply.

They clearly don't give a monkeys!

Visited this hotel the other day for one night, arrived late and the staff were helpful. Room was great, big and comfy bed. Good TV and bathroom. They also looked after my luggage for the day while I explored the city. Thoroughly recommend for the price! Cannot find fault.

Arrived at the hotel for a 3D2N stay. The receptionist could barely speak english and the service was awful. internet was broken, and the receptionist didn't seem to care. Surcharge for the net was 10GBP/day.

The room size was very small - could barely sit at the desk with the computer.

Expensive hotel with a low service level. Only positive thing is the location of the hotel.

I was given the passionatta suite, when myself and my partner first arrived it looked lovely, big room, big bed, nice bathroom. but when I first lay on the bed I realised it was just 2 single beds pushed together! I have never in all my experience of hotels came across this. the room itself was an utter joke, i realised that the furniture did not match, they were just in the room to fill up space. Around 1am i went to reception to compain where i was met with a grunt. the receptionist was very unhelpful and instead of dealing with me he simply put up a sign that said "the desk was currently unmanned". this is a shocking display of customer service and we checked out shortly after that as I was appalled at this hotel and I for one will never be returning or recommending this hotel. i would expect a full refund for this outrage.

Hotels in Aberdeen are expensive and this was one of the cheaper options at £160 per night for B&B. I thought this was a new hotel and didn't realize it was the old St Magnus hotel in Guild Street. If I had known that I wouldn't have booked this hotel.

Plus points: Central location, close to train station. There have been some renovations carried out. Room (executive double) was large and toilet / bathroom was large with both shower cubicle and bath.

Minus points: Central heating (radiator) was on full blast with no way of turning it down. Opening the window wasn't really an option as room faced on to Guild street and there was a lot of noise from drunks and traffic. This left you with option of sleeping poorly due to heat or opening window and sleeping poorly due to noise. Breakfast tea took a long time to arrive and was in one of those useless pots, so popular in hotels, that dribble everywhere when you try to pour a cup from them. Limited selection of cereals and no fruit that I could see despite being on the menu. The scrambled eggs were of the "hard bullet" variety despite ostensibly being cooked to order.

Close to union square and NCP car park (£6 per night). Quirky hotel with bistro downstairs for dinner and breakfast.

All could do with a really deep clean. Bed comfy, room fine although suspicious hairs in the bath...

There is a bit of noise but only to be expected in a city centre and when it is positioned opposite the harbour.

Lovely staff in the bistro in the evening I visited, breakfast staff complete opposite and verging on rude.

Room Tip: I was on the top floor and with three bags to carry was not ideal. Go for a lower floor unless you p...
