“Much Better.... Always worth giving somewhere a 2nd Chance!”
Reviewed 17 March 2014

Since my first review in Feb 2013 (in which I lamented at some poor service despite the individual efforts of our waitress), my family and I have re-visited the Bieldside (or as we call it locally. The Bielder) several times. Just through circumstance it was quite a while before our 2nd visit but we have now been another 3 times and each time I am glad to report that the service has been very good, The atmosphere open, friendly & comfortable and the quality of the food excellent. They even have a seperate Gluten Free Menu which makes life for families with Intolerances or allergies much more pleasurable. Well done Bielder! in the words of a certain hollywood actor..... "I'll be back" :)

“Lovely place to enjoy a lunh with friends.”
Reviewed 12 March 2014

A friend and I are regular visitors to this restaurant and enjoy the relaxed friendly atmosphere and tasty food. The staff under the guidance of Bob take pride in remembering regular's favourite drinks and will chat, advise or leave you to enjoy lunch without interrupting. In decent weather you can sit outside on the balcony and enjoy your meal or drink. The menu is changed every few months but there is always a great range, their fish and chips are fabulous, they are presented beautifully, even though the fish is sometimes so big it almost hangs over the edge of the large plate!!!!!!!!

“Excellent food, great service in relaxed and trendy surroundings”
Reviewed 24 February 2014

Nipped in today with my partner for some tea. The menu reads amazingly. Couldn't decide so we opted for two different sharing platters. Turf was filled with chicken skewers , deep fried duck nuggets, gorgeous parfait, breads, oatcakes and the hoi sin sauce was lush! The "earth" platter was a vegetarians dream! Mozzarella balls, crispy not soggy, grilled halloumi and veg skewers, couscous and olives and the wild mushroom en croute was to die for! The presentation on wood and slate platters was beautiful. Service was great. Lovely young waiter was attentive without being overbearing or "hovering"'. Loved the decor too. My kind of place. Open and trendy. Only thing I would say is, the cheapest glass of wine is £5.50, which I think is pretty steep for a house wine. Can't wait to go again... Plaice roulade will be my next meal!

“Enjoyable family dinner”
Reviewed 7 January 2014

Have visited the Bieldside twice since it has been refurbished and had very satisfying meals both times. The menu on this most recent visit was a bit more limited than in the summer but the choices were good. While we were not in a rush, service was a bit slow and it seemed one waitress was running around serving everyone while the other chatted in the corner. The food when it came was well presented and everyone enjoyed their choices. A good selection of wine on offer as well.

A great meal-would definitely recommend and book again. Haven't previously rated the food at this pub-our local but the bar was raised at New Year. Hopefully they will bring in some affordable good local food in the new year and we may become regulars!!
