I attended a wedding in today at the Banff springs and to my surprise the hotel is completely upgraded good food nice clean room and cheery staff all made it a great day. The views over the bay from our room is one of the best in Scotland with surfers in the water good value rooms and well priced food

Back to the Banff Springs hotel and wow what a difference the interior is completly new the decor of the dining area is 4 star city feel and the new bar is rustic and really nice it is the best stay experience I have had in Banff, The new bar/lounge area & dining room have been decorated beautifully...The food is fresh and very, very good, I had cullen skink and rib eye steak, my work collegues had haddock and home made chips they said it was excellent and the prices have not increased since my visit last August.
The rooms are clean and fresh, the breakfast was buffet and plentyful, the check- in and the waitress were young, local girls and very polite and friendly.
I stayed on the 30th of May and sat outside for lunch on the patio area looking over the beach and bay the view is great.

Room Tip: Get a sea view room or a sea view table in dining room a Pint is only £3.30 in the bar

Recently stayed at The Banff Springs Hotel.

On arrival was very surprised to find the main entrance strewn with builders rubbish, old broken plasterboard and old broken bits of wood. Huge pile of stuff right by the entrance!!. This was removed after two days but in my opinion it should not have been there at all or there should have been a skip around the back of the hotel for it.

On entering the hotel there was a lot of banging going on and noise plus loud music coming from the bar area which I was told was being refurbished.

None of this was mentioned on the hotel website or when I rang to book so I was shocked. Not a very good start. No apology was made by the resident staff.

The bedroom was adequate although had a small bathroom with a shower over the bath which I do not like as the shower curtains always cling to you. View from room was marred by scaffolding.

Went down for dinner and throughout the reception and dining room there was very loud music being played which seemed to be rap music and totally out of keeping with the surroundings. It was too loud and I had to ask for it to be turned down.

Next surprise was the cost of the fillet steak which was at least £10 more expensive than on the hotel website at £31.95. I note that they have now removed their prices from the website for the dinner menu.

I note a previous reviewer commented on the cost of the fillet steak and the excuse given was that it was hung for a long time and locally sourced. Surely by being locally sourced it should be cheaper than Aberdeen Angus steak in London as the hotel should know the farmer/butcher, be able to negotiate cheaper prices and also there are no distribution costs involved. Does not make sense and it was ridiculouslyexpensive for what you got.

the rest of our food was very good and the service was efficient.

The dining room bar area was packed because the main bar was being refurbished and , unfortunately the nights we were there, there was a group of men rather drunk making lewd remarks. Not what you want when you are paying £31.95 for a fillet steak.

Breakfast was very good although once again there was really loud music playing that was very modern and very inappropriate. we had to shout to hear ourselves speak.

This hotel has a fantastic poistion and great staff combined with good food BUT they need to get their pricing right and also to think about the paying guest and at least apologise for major refurbishment work which is not mentioned on the website or when booking.

We will be returning but I will be asking about the condition of the hotel before booking. It is all very well having a great website showing the hotel at its best but when that is not reflecting reality then the hotel should have offered us discounted rates orat least warned us prior to arrival.

Room Tip: Check before booking to ensure that no refurbishment work is in progress. I wish we had!

A 3 night stay using it as a base to visit the Banff and Moray Coast. Rooms were comfortable, with minimum extras. Staff very helpful. Unfortunately there was a wedding each night we were there plus other functions, so there was nowhere for us to escape to other than our room. We were on a DB&B rate but after our 1st meal we opted to eat out as the menu was quite limited and the food not particularly tasty. Breakfast was good.

Room Tip: We were 'upgraded' to executive room so not sure how basic the classic room is. Opt for a r...

I've been going to the Banff Springs hotel for years & it seems to be getting better & better, especially recently - with the new renovations & decor in the lounge/bar & dining areas.

The hotel interior is of top quality & I couldn't fault it. The new bar/lounge area & dining room have been decorated beautifully - Extremely modern, yet still has a great warm atmosphere.

Great views over the sea from the bar & the dining room.

The staff are extremely helpful & well presented.

The food has always been great when I've dined at the Springs, good sized menu with plenty varying choices, good size portions & always cooked to perfection.

I will certainly be back again soon.

We held our wedding reception here for 115 folk. We expected a high standard and can honestly say that the organisation and delivery easily surpassed our expectations. The meal was excellent, with quality food and fast and friendly service. The whole hotel has recently been refurbished and the staff were friendly and efficient. Most of our guests stayed and ate here and we are yet to hear a criticism.

Joint birthday celebratory meal - Sunday lunch with family. Good food spoiled by inattentive, slow service. Plenty of waitresses and busy time but definite lack of efficiency from waitresses on duty. Will not be recommending to other friends and family.
