The standards and surroundings rival any top boutique hotel, complemented by the most welcoming and accomodating hosts. No detail was overlooked -from the quality of the fixtures and fittings, to the toiletries, fluffy bathrobes and slippers. Breakfast consisted of a choice of great produce, beautifully prepared and served by smiling helpful staff. Just a great all round experience- dont miss it if you are in the area - but book ahead, it is unsurprisingly a popular place!

Esther and Raymond were the most welcoming and friendly hosts you could ever meet. The accommodation was superb with so many lovely little touches to make our stay perfect. The breakfasts were better than you will get anywhere else. Definitely recommended. If you find anywhere better, please let me know! David and Brenda.

This B & B is fanastic!! Esther, Raymond and their staff are all charming and they can't do enough to make your stay a great one. The house is immaculately furnished and kept spotlessly clean, but it still feels like a home from home - no stuffiness. We stayed in room 5 (see pics), lovely big bedroom, king size comfy bed with white linen, digital television and DVD player, overlooks the garden, ensuite with roll-top bath and separate shower, luxury toiletries, bathrobes and slippers. Fresh fruit and chocolates are placed on the landing. Breakfast is a joy, well cooked and very tasty, I can recommend the porridge!! The grounds are well tended with a lawn, pegoda, patio seating and seats on the lawn, you can even play croquet if you wish! There is a complimentary bar which is stocked with wine, beer, spirits and soft drinks. About 15 mins walk to Arbroath but taxis are cheap enough. Esther will arrange restaurant bookings and taxis for you. All in all a great place to stay, if you are in the area it is a must!

Room Tip: All rooms decorated equally to a high standard. Suites have bath and shower and are larger.

Brucefield Boutique is described on its web site as a 5 star B and B and we can certainly endorse that rating. Raymond and Esther have created a house that could easily match everything you would expect from the best of the 5 star hotels you might have come across. The rooms, the furniture, the breakfast, the free drinks,(yes, that's right FREE drinks), the outdoor seating on the veranda all contribute to an amazing experience. Your hosts give you all the information and support that you might need and nothing is too much trouble.
I recommend that you visit their web site to examine the range of the offer and to see for yourself what Brucefield looks like.
This place has rewritten the rules about B and Bs.
We spent our time at Carnoustie watching the golf which is only 15 minutes drive away as are a number of great golf courses.
The only downside to the area is the dearth of restaurants. The one exception is the But and Ben which is a superb restaurant specialising in locally caught fish which is situated about 10 minutes drive away from the B and B. If you stay at Brucefield make sure you ask Esther to book a table at this eatery.

I stayed at Brucefield for some 18 nights whilst on a business trip to Arbroath, and stayed in three of Brucefield's rooms during that time. The hosts, Esther and Raymond, are at once very welcoming and professional in their approach, with meticulous attention to detail. The rooms are elegantly furnished with hot showers (and a bath as well in one room), digital TV and a DVD player, and there is a library of DVDs available at no cost. The breakfasts are delicious, with a good selection available, and with pleasant staff providing it. The Full Scottish (eggs, bacons, baby tomatoes, sausagues and Stornoway black pudd'n) was an excellent way to start the day, as was the Supreme Salmon (smoked Scottish salmon with scrambled eggs),. The grounds are well kept, with a croquet lawn, pergola, and other seating, and there is a verandah, which is ideal for watching the world drift by. A short walk away is the Arbroath cliff path and Victoria Park, and I found the 15-2 20 minute walk into the town centre most enjoyable. The beds were very comfortable, and the rooms were thoroughly and professionally cleaned by a cheery team of chambermaids. And to cap it all, complementary drinks were available in the foyer. I thorough recommend Brucefield - but book early. I had to leave this week because it was the Ladies' Open golf tournament a few miles down the coast at Carnoustie, and there was reportedly not a room to be had for miles around!

One thing to beware of in Arbroath, and possibly other Scottish towns, is that the restaurants tend to close early, round about 8.30pm., but there is a Wetherspoons pub in the Market Place which takes food orders until 10. I can recommend the Azzuro Italian Restaurant and the Brewhouse pub at the far end of the High Street, near the harbour.

My husband and I stayed here when visiting Arbroath for a family party. Over the years we have stayed in various B & B's in Arbroath and my only regret is that we didn't find out about this one sooner! From now on we will definitely stay here whenever we are in the area. It is simply PERFECT! The welcome we received was second to none, extremely warm and friendly, Esther and Raymond simply could not do enough for you. The property sits in its own well maintained grounds with private parking, a decking area that guests can enjoy and even croquet on the lawn. The property itself is absolutely IMMACULATE and has been decorated with great flair, in keeping with the style of the house yet very contemporary and chique. There are personal touches in abundance from the luxury toiletries, fluffy bathrobes and slippers, bowls of fresh fruit and chocolates, complimentary bar and even a daily weather report on your breakfast table. Our room was large with a luxury bathroom including freestanding bath and large walk in shower. The bed was extremely comfortable and we had a great nights sleep. Despite the luxury it was also very homely and I have to say its the most comfortable I have ever felt in a hotel/B & B and I would definitely say it is the most spotlessley clean (and I'm a bit of a clean freak). We have stayed in many hotels in many parts of the country and world and this is firmly in my number one position. We will definitely return

Room Tip: I'm sure they are all equally as lovely as the suite we had. I think the suites have both bath...
