friendly, clean, good food but rather too eager to please which may suit some people but it was not as relaxing as I would have liked - the room was overcrowded with little space to put things down

As the proud owner of a 5 star B&B I was dissapointed to see that the only negative comments I have recieved in the 7 years of running my B&B are on trip advisor..
I have been told on numerous occasions that I have a natural flair for this occupation and put guests at ease very quickly. Unfortunately at the time of your arrival, my mum who had end stage dementia had a drastic deterioration in her condition and I had just become aware that she had a very short period of time to live.( She died early January) It would be understandable to state that my natural flair was subdued. I had thought of relocating you to another quality B&B but as this causes inconvenience to guests I honoured the booking. I apologise that your stay was not as relaxing as you would have liked.
With regards to the comment " The room was overcrowded with little space to put things down" Visitscotland 's desciption of The Old Vicarage is "A WORLD CLASS B&B"

I stayed for one night in December on business. the room was fab , large , clean , comfortable. The service and attention to detail impressive. Yet ...I felt I could not relax, maybe just me , but it was all a bit too much .Sorry.

We booked this B and B at the last minute through Visit Scotland, so didn't receive any official confirmation. I called the B and B to confirm and received an instant reply.
The accomodation is in an old Victorian manse with beautiful high ceilings. The room we stayed in was a large en-suite double well furnished with all the facilities you could need hairdryer, iron, tea and coffee making equipment. The bed was very comfortable with sweets on the bedside cabinets.
The breakfast was excellent with a great range of cereals, fresh fruit, juices, crackers and homemade cakes and preserves.
Also a full cooked breakfast is available which was freshly cooked to your liking. My wife plumped for the famous Arbroath Smokies for breakfast on both days we stayed and she loved them.
The best thing about staying at the Old Vicarage is the welcome, when staying at B and B's it can be difficult to settle and feel at home, but at the Old Vicarage we felt right at home and the owners could not do enough for us.
