We have been for lunch many times. A traditional unwavering menu. Obviously working on the premise.. If it ain't broke don't fix it. Food good and service always smart with a smile..Can't go wrong:-)

A regular to the Station Hotel my husband extended family and friend's have enjoyed our dining experience and hospitality offered by management and staff. The food is homemade none of your microwave meals from the experienced chef and his staff. The welcome received is warm and courteous, nothing is too much bother, if asking for a smaller portion (as the portions are of a generous size and it is mentioned on the menu that 1/2 portions are available) there is never an issue you are also made aware of the daily specials when the menus are handed to you. You are given adequate time to make your choice, if you wish to eat in the cocktail lounge you are advised to book a table as it as always busy but you can dine in the pleasantly furbished dining room away from the busyness of the lounge bar. Personally I prefer to sit in the warm atmosphere of the lounge bar. Well worth a visit to this family run hotel where you will be warmly welcomed and served homely cooked food.

The food was tasty and very reasonably priced. The service however was poor and due to that, I will not return.
We were seated in the dining room as our baby was not allowed in the bar area.
We were given the menus but the kids menu was basic only offering pizza, sausages, fish fingers or chicken nuggets. Never would I feed my child this at home, so we looked to the main menu to see what she would be able to eat. Ideally she would eat a kids portion of any of the main meals on I offer - steak pie / lasagne, etc but this wasn't an option so we selected the tuna toastie.

When the meals came out, all 3 dishes came out at the same time. The toastie was straight out a machine and was piping hot. Surely the kids dish should come first, but we managed to settle our starving daughter by giving her some of my beef olives, gravy and potatoes. As it turned out, we just shared this meal as even once we were finished, the tuna toastie was still too hot to eat.

To make matters worse, when the table next to us got their order taken, they were offered small portions of the main meals for the kids. We were never offered!

When settling the bill, I was never asked if everything was ok with our meals, just given the price. That was quite rude, but when I expressed all this, she stood there like she just wasn't interested, took my card and carried on.

Very disappointing

Visited on a busy Sunday evening but fitted us in after saying we would have to come back after high tea was finished. One of the best meals we have had at a hotel with scrumptious food and generous portions. If you visit Carnoustie don't bypass the station hotel for something to eat absolutely 1st class and only £70 for 2x 3 courses,2x2 courses and 4 drinks. Highly recommended.

The food was good and service quick, friendly and courteous. We stopped by for drinks in the snug little bar, and enjoyed a Sunday roast in the dining room. We would recommend to friends or family!
