“Good for a night's stay”

Visit was partly business and pleasure. Booked via Booking .com for a good rate. Did not pay for a front view, but got one overlooking the 18th green which was a bonus. The Hotel is looking very tired and in need of a major facelift. But the staff were very professional through out.
The terrace was wonderful for watching the golfers on the 18th with an early evening drink in the warm sunshine! We only had breakfast as part of the rate which was Ok the fried breakfast was rather 'portion controlled' the haggis (which I love) was a slimy mess and was in-edible, better to have had the smoke salmon and scrambled egg option which was excellent according to my wife!
The Commonwealth Games baton relay delayed our departure which was a wonderful distraction.
Next time I will leave enough time for a round of golf!
Overall a pleasant stay.

Room Tip: all rooms facing the course or the beach are the best but generally you will be asked to pay for tha...

Have stayed at this wonderful hotel many times. We always try to get a golf course view room as the view is superb and if possible it is definitely worth paying the extra for a suite. The hotel is comfortable, clean and has quiet rooms. The breakfast is excellent as is the evening meal in he restaurant which has a large choice. There are also bar meals available. The hotel is also ideally located to walk into town

What a marvellous Xmas present from my wife ?. Staying at Carnoustie golf hotel and playing on the hallowed ground of the toughest track on the open circuit . We arrived and were given keys to a sea view room which we had booked , on entering the room my wife almost burst into tears due to condition of the room . Tired Shabby in need of total refurb and so the rest of the Hotel felt poor quality food at both breakfast and dinner. The one saviour were the members of staff both front of house and in the restaurant . Fortunately front of house could see our point of view ref the first sea view room and move us to the Jon van d veld suit . Many thanks to them. Just announced Carnoustie to host the open in 2018 should get refurb so urgently required.

Just had a fab 2 night stay at this hotel and will defo go back. Room was nice enough with all facilities required, breakfast & dinner was both excellent. Bar area nice too & large Reception area. Used the Spa which was nice, pool, jacuzzi, steam room & sauna all used. All in all a great weekend with no complaints, also staff were very friendly.

My partner and I booked three nights at Carnoustie hotel in July as our wee relaxing holiday (can't get sufficient time off work for an abroad trip!). We had read some reviews of it being "tired" and "in need of upgrade" so didn't know what to expect. The hotel is lovely, well priced and welcoming. The staff are fantastic (too many names to mention them all but all we met were polite, courteous and attentive), the facilities are wonderful and the food was so nice on both our DBB nights and our three breakfasts. For a peak season visit the price we paid for this 4 star hotel was astonishingly good - you would be hard pressed to find a similar standard hotel which was this competitively priced. I know - I used to work selling hotel stays for a living. The only negative I could think of (if pressed!) was the wooden furniture in the rooms was a bit "worn" - but the linen, television, bathroom, curtains, products available (biscuits, shampoo, iron, shower cap, hairdryer, ice bucket (refillable by the ice machine in the corridor) to cadburys hot choc!) etc: were very clean and up to date, if that's all there was possible to complain about it shows how happy we were with the accommodation. Our rooms were turned down daily too by very respectful staff.

Whilst at the hotel we heard that Carnoustie will be hosting the open again in 2018, for all those who felt it was 'dated' - I'm certain that this hotel will get a big boost and freshen up in time for this event so make the most of the fab deals before the prices and popularity go up - well worth a visit! Definitely be back and recommended already to our friends and family.

xx

Check in staff great and very accommodating in finding us a room well before check in time. Spa facilities good as was lunch. Had an amazing massage and facial. Dinner was brilliant and breakfast was also good. Staff were amazing - it is very rare to receive such warm and genuine service - and they made the stay. Lovely location, but rooms/decor could do with a bit of upgrade. Can't wait to return!

Having just visited the carnoustie golf hotel following a enjoyable golf break please find below my review of this hotel.
The hotel is situated on links parade and overlooks the Championship golf course. Location 10/10. Amble car parking for hotel guest with easy access to the hotel entrance. Check in staff extremely polite and helpful, even asked if they had a golf view room and the accommodated as my third visit. My previous stay was in 2009 two years after the last open championship was held. I have to say I think the hotel has let it self go slightly, not on service I may add but just very minor things that would make a major difference. The hotel is in desperate need of a lick of paint on the outside, when you look back to when the open was here it was sparking white it's now a murky grey. Also on the external appearance the patio are is great to have a bite to eat or drink whilst looking over the golf course, however in need of a good jet spray on the flags and will look like new. The rooms them self are spacious clean and beds comfy. All staff I have found are extremely helpful and polite. We ate in calders bar on the Monday night of our stay as we decided we would prefer the options on the bar menu than restaurant. The bar wasn't overly full and the we waited 45 minutes for two angus beef burgers and one steak. This was a long time whiteout any apology or explanation. The young lady who served us was again very polite asking how the food was and again helpful, just maybe a little more information about the time we had to wait if they were running behind. Once the food arrived got to say was very nice and enjoyable.
After three days golf what would finish the day off would be a nice spa treatment especially with a special offer golfers tonic costing £50.00 for a one treatment. Myself and my playing partner faced this although there was no availability. As many of you reading this review will know a round on the championship course is tough and can take in excess of 4 and half hours. The reason I mention this is that the spa treatments are on,y available 9-5. This doesn't give many golfers the chances to have many treatments after the round.
All in all this is a hotel that is great for a golf trip. Nice hotel great staff and superb location. Just minor up keep to the external of the hotel would go a way to improve the image.
When I visit carnoustie I will definitely be staying here again.
Thank you for the stay and big thanks again for the staff.

Room Tip: The golf view rooms are great, but please be aware the green keepers will start work around 5am so m...
