An unspoilt area for few to enjoy. This place is always a great visit but because it is so out of the way it is never too busy. Children will enjoy watching the workings of the locks and watching the boats pass through.

I've just returned from my annual family holiday in Argyll, Scotland. This year, my husband and I decided to take our wee boat into the Crinan Canal. Neither of us had did this before, our crew consisted of us and our 7yr old son. As soon as we arrived at the Ardrsishaig Sea Lock which is the start of the canal, the Scottish Canals staff couldn't have been any more helpful, especially Sarah. Sarah introduced herself immediately, saw our small crew and immediately offerred us assisted passage, which was most appreciated. We were only going part of the way , however the help we received from Sarah and her colleagues ensured we had a wonderful trip. Next year we will return , cruise the entire length of the canal and have an overnight stay at Crinan. The canal itself, once you leave Ardrishaig, is just beautiful, especially on a sunny day, as we had. Everyone is so friendly. I'd definately recommend it.

Really lovely place to go,see the boats come in and out of the lock we found this really interesting as we have nothing like this where we are from so to see it in action is really good , there is a cafe and hotel here and it really is in a beautiful spot you can walk the length of the locks or cycle really worth a visit you will be surprised how beautiful it really is

completed in 1803 and still going strong,a safe athough pricey (£10 per metre) to get your yacht from the clyde to the inner hebrides and beyond.Two electic sea lochs and 13 manuel will keep your crew fit and give you a busy day to get through by 5pm closing time although the staff are very helpful.The toilet provision would be improved by hot water and plugs in the sinks!
