“Great staff, Good Food”
Reviewed 15 April 2012

Value for money break, Alright the rooms I have to concede were a bit tired but bedding was fresh and clean. The staff were magic and the food was plentiful and tasty.
Overall well worth considering for a short break if you are in the area.

Room Tip: e mail hotel prior to arriving and get a room with a view of the loch.

I know it is normal to use Tripadvisor to complain and having read reviews of the Argyll Hotel I expected the worst. Nothing could have been farther from the truth. As 3 star hotels go I rate this one very highly. Our room was clean, well decorated and maintained. The food was good quality, excellently prepared and served. Recommend you eat in the bar - more atmosphere. Above all the staff are very friendly, hospitable and helpful. We will return.

Room Tip: Ask for a refurbished room. No lift.

This was my second visit to this hotel in 18 months and just like the first time it was a perfect stay, we had a lovely smart room with fantastic views over the loch.
The food in this hotel is a credit to the chef, even if you are not staying here it's highly recommended to visit the bar for a meal you'll be happy you did, the food is simply outstanding with generous portions. The staff are so very helpful and polite. I would say this hotel is my personal favourite in the Argyll & Bute area.

Room Tip: Go for a room with the loch view.

We (my wife, 1 yr old daughter and I) booked a last minute 2 night break at the Argyll in low season (early March). Our room, 211, was really lovely, (very clean, four poster bed, recently refurbished bathroom) and, while the public areas of the hotel are by no means luxurious, it is what it is - a 3 star country hotel in a beautiful spot over looking the bay. The staff were all delightful, fawning over our daughter and bending over backwards to help in any way they could. The hot & cold buffet at breakfast was of a good standard although I would recommend heading to the George Hotel round the corner for dinner if you're looking for really good food and a better atmosphere. For £59/night b&b we could not fault this place.

Room Tip: Going by other's pics, the room we had on the 2nd floor (211) is one of the nicer ones. Four pos...

rooms very basic, heating non existent, staff not very friendly, bar and food prices far to pricey for what is basically a 2 star hotel. breakfast was ok, buffet style.

Room Tip: there is some larger rooms, ask when booking
