“A great escape.”
Reviewed 27 August 2013

The hotel was nice, room adequate, food good and staff very helpful and pleasant. I would stay here again. The view from our room across the loch was stunning. We went to Inveraray Castle which is fantastic and well worth a visit, all the history inside and the well maintained grounds are peaceful to walk around.
We also hiked up to the watch tower where the views were breath taking, this is a must see.

Stayed two nights with 5pm voucher Lovely man on reception to welcome us Deal included breakfast two days and dinner on first night Steak and mussel dishes charged extra Nice enough meal Generous breakfast with help your self buffet of hot food and plenty of choice of cereals, yogurt bread and fruit Only criticism was bacon a bit underdone and a bit cold Stars were definitely the staff who were all very pleasant and helpful Bit of TLC needed re décor

Room Tip: Room 120 a standard room and quite a walk from reception

The decor needs updating but that was the only downside for us. We had a room facing the loch and the view was stunning! My partner and I took our 8 month old and the staff were very attentive as they brought him out some soup and bread to eat for free. They also gave us a bucket with ice for our room so we could keep his bottles cooled. The staff were full of smiles and seemed to genuinely want to help which was nice. The food offered was delicious and we had no complaints. All in all we were very impressed and would visit again.

We stayed here for two one-night stays. As others have noted, decor is rather dated and the rooms could be smartened up. But food was really good and the staff went out of their way to be as friendly and helpful as possible. And having free Wifi was a real plus. So all in all we enjoyed our stay.

We stayed in Argyll Hotel during our roadtrip through Scotland and we wanted to visit Staffa. We couldn't find "affordable" accommodation in Oban on short term so we ended up in Inveraray (a small hour drive). Because we had to leave early (before breakfast was ready) the kind receptionist offered to arrange lunch-boxes. The hotel is very outdated and the wifi is really crap in some areas (in fact in one of our rooms). We complained about this and the staff responded very professional but was not able to fix... so we ended up with checking our mail in the entrance.

My boyfriend and I stayed here around end of July (2013) I got this deal from 5pm, and I thought it was a tremendous deal...

We have a room with a view ( I paid additional £10.00 for it)
bed and breakfast and a 3 course meal for 2 plus a free entry at the Inveraray Castle.

Hotel: The hotel looks a bit run-down, the interior etc, but the bar is quite cozy.
Food: I ordered the salmon, and I thought it was pretty good, especially the sauce, on the other hand, my boyfriend ordered a steak, (which we paid extra for it) he wanted it medium, but when it was served it was well done---so it was tough and full of fat.
Room: Again, it was looking old, but the view was great, overlooking the loch . The flooring was uneven. The bathroom was okay, clean but not spotless.
Breakfast: There's a good selection of fry ups, the croissant were burnt...
Service: The staff were very friendly and accommodating, especially the lady at the reception.
Location: is great, the local area, shops etc. If you want peace and quiet this is a place for couples, but if you want something fancy? Go somewhere else
Overall I will give it a 3 out of 5

Room Tip: pay extra for a room with the view.

Myself and my partner stopped over at the Argyll hotel to break up our 11 hour journey to the isle of skye. Initial impressions when entering the hotel was that it was VERY dated, nothing a few new carpets and a lick of paint cant solve though. Reception staff were very polite and efficient. Our room had every appliance we needed for the night, which is always a bonus, with an excellent view! The public areas i.e. hallways did not look like they were cleaned regularly. complimentary wifi was hit and miss, would not recommend for business use. We paid extra for breakfast, we were eventually seated after waiting for 20 minutes, whilst one poor girl managed the restaurant on her own, clearing and setting tables! when we eventually got seated, we had to wait for the food trolley to re-filled! breakfast, once received was spot on though! This hotel was ideal for what we used it for, a halfway stop off point to the isle of skye, but I would not return for any longer than one night. Good value for money bed and breakfast wise.
